Microsoft Confirms New Xbox Console

Quick mention acts as first official acknowledgement.

Although Microsoft have officially kept quiet about the 360’s successor, today the first mention of a new Xbox has been uttered. This won’t come as a massive surprise to anyone who’s at least kept one eye on gaming news and rumours, but it’s the first nod in an official capacity.

“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about sixteen years,” said Brian Hall, who is general manager for Windows. He was speaking in an interview with The Verge, picked up by VideoGamer. “We obviously have Exchange and Outlook that people use at work,” he added.

“We just decided it was time to do something new and to bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows phone, and the new Xbox.”

A cursory reference, for sure, but it’s there. Also sounds a bit like it could be running Windows 8…

It wasn’t just this interview on The Verge. In the programme “On The Verge”, a highly regarded Microsoft analyst/blogger said “every single Microsoft platform will be changed over the next 8 months or so” in the biggest overall of the business ever . (Or words to that effect)

That could be as simple as a dashboard redesign, though…

It probably won’t run Windows 8, or at least not the full Windows 8.

Almost guaranteed to have Metro interface as the UI, or whatever they’re calling Metro now.

Windows on a console?!? HaHa! Crashes, freezes, blue screen of death, system slowdown over time, viruses, cleaning junk files, defragging the HDD, the list goes on…

That’s odd as i’ve have windows and have yet to see any of those issues that you have mention. And if Windows did have all of those issues, then i doubt that it would be the most commonly used OS in the workplace.

Well, there isn’t much to know yet but I think its clear that the current consoles should be replaced soon and its about time too.
