Sony Online Entertainment’s President John Smedley has confirmed that Planetside 2 will release on Steam, after a tweet from the Reddit Planetside community, Redditside, wondered about the possibility.

The Planetside 2 Beta will be starting later this afternoon, and you can sign up for a chance to be in it on the Planetside 2 website.

It’s free-to-play by all accounts. No doubt there will be a “platinum member” monthly sub for those who want in-game credit etc.
