Sony have just announced Cross Buy at their Gamescom conference in Cologne. We’ve already seen something similar with MotorStorm: RC, Sound Shapes and other games, but this new initiative includes full games such as PlayStation All-Stars, Ratchet & Clank Q-Force and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time – you’re able to buy these on either PS3 or PS Vita and get the other version for free.
This is brilliant news for owners of both PS3 and Vita, since you’ll now be able to take these games on the go with you for no extra cost. Hopefully Sony employ this tactic with all of their cross platform games.
You’ll even be able to play the PS3 version of All-Stars with the PS Vita version, thanks to Cross Play.
Four new characters were announced for All-Stars, too: Ratchet (from Ratchet & Clank), Spike (from Ape Escape), Dante (from the upcoming Devil May Cry reboot) and Sackboy, the lovable yet dangerous character from LittleBigPlanet.

Probably a stupid question but this also goes for when buying the Vita version (you get the PS3 version as well)? Ryan only mentioned the other way.
Do we know if it is a code or a physical version?

probably the same way round, like before.

I take it that these will be boxed…and provide codes for the Vita versions (Vice versa PS3)? that would be sweet if so. Really looking forward to these now and generally surprised that Ratchet and Clank is coming to the Vita. SOLD!

I just hope this cross buy thing is available for the physical versions, like buying the game for the Vita on the store and then getting in on the PS3 via download.

Sony’s All Star brawler just got interesting again… A little bit at least.

I think some news outlets and people have got the wrong end of the stick here. Surely the cross buy promotion only applies if you buy the PS3 version. So if you buy the PS3 version you get the vita version for free. But it only works that way. So if you buy the vita version, you don’t get the PS3 version. Because if you did, surely everyone would just buy the vita version as it’s cheaper just to get the PS3 version.
