Plants vs. Zombies Sequel on the Way

PopCap are undeniably the kings of casual, addictive games. Bejewelled, Peggle and Zuma have all had sequels in one form or another, but their quirky tower defence plant-em-up Plants vs. Zombies, released back in 2009, stood alone, leaving fans desperate for some more planting action.

Well, those fans should be pleased to hear that PopCap have a sequel in the works. There aren’t many details right now, but expect a fully-fledged sequel with “a bevy of new features, settings, and situations”.

The game has a tentative launch period of Spring 2013, which is quite an apt release window, actually, unless you’re Australian.

  1. Wonderful, I love PvZs’ charm and various mini-games/game-modes!

    • oh man, the mini-games were so good! I love that game so much.

      • The bowling is ace!

I also hope Crazy Dave is back!

    • Agreed. PvZ is one of my favourite games, ever. Utterly wonderful take on tower defence with Crazy Dave being a stupidly awesome character to boot.

Thank God, PopCap has seen sense to provide the world with a sequel. :-)

  2. great, I look forward to buying this on seven different platforms…

    • Exactly. They need to do some cross-buy, but I doubt that’s gonna happen, they are properly gonna cash in.

  3. Still not played this – My dislike of tower defence & the cost of the game itself haven’t helped that situation though. :)

    • I got it on Vita and there is a lot of game there for £8.99, not to mention the Platinum and endless Survivor Mode (so there’s always something to return).

      • Unless i can physically touch a game, i will only pay up to a maximum of around £6/£7 for it.

Yes, i am a cheap ass. But I just can’t justify much more than that on a digital product that i am unable to sell on & that takes up space on my HDD though.

If it ever enters a sale on PSN, i might give it a go (only ‘might’ due to the first reason for no purchase), but besides that, i just can’t justify the cost atm. :(

      • got it for like £3 in steam sale couple of weeks ago

      • Ok, i should probably point out at this point that i only have a PS3 (before i get a raft of “i got it at…” responses).

No Vita & certainly no Steam i’m afraid.

      • Ok, upon reading that response back, it actually sounds a bit rude!

So I thank you both for your input, but i am afraid i am a one console man (being PS3).

        That’s a bit better.

      • Fair enough mate, I sometimes question downloadable titles, and it’s up to you after all! I respect a man who sticks to his principles ;)

      • Yeah, unfortunately it does see me missing out on the odd ‘acclaimed’ title (Limbo/Journey), but i can wait until they get hit with a sale price.

Unfortunately, it usually tends to be around the £1.50 discount mark, still leaving me S.O.L! XD

      • Saw it during the Steam sale and still didn’t buy it. I just don’t get Tower Defense games. The repetitive nature is just too much for me…

  4. Finally!

  5. Good news! The Dacia Sanderos is…… Nah, but this is sweet, I’ve done pretty much everything there is to do on the Ps3 version.

Does anybody know if the Vita version has new content?
