MGM Snap Up “Metro 2033” Movie Rights

MGM have acquired the rights to produce a movie based on the book Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

The novel spawned a game in 2010 and the sequel, Metro Last Light, is currently in production.

The screenplay will be adapted by F. Scott Frazier who is no stranger to the world of video games have previously worked as a ‘game evaluation team member’ for THQ and tested ‘Tetris Evolution’ and ‘Hot Wheels: Stunt Track Challenge’.

The film is has a tentative release date of 2015.

  2. Lovely stuff. My mate was chatting about this and it’s the same book (or series of) that STALKER is based on, I think. Also, Metro has some of the STALKER devs too and it really shows. Glad they’re working on something from the same universe. Anyway… with all of that in mind, I’m fascinated to see how it turns out as it’s coming from good stock so might even make a good film. :-)
