Total War Rome II Lead Designer Talks About Humanising Historical Warfare

We spoke to James Russell, Lead Designer with Creative Assembly on Total War Rome II. We heard about how they’re letting you get closer to the action and see the human cost of empire building in the classical era. We also heard a bit about land and sea battles and how that changes the game.



  1. Nice interview, sounds great how they’re intergrating naval and land troops more.

  2. Pretty much a definite buy from me, I skipped on Shogun 2 as I was a bit put off by it only being in Japan and not being too interested in that era/culture. Very happy to see they are going back to the large scale campaign map, and the graphical improvements look really impressive although id like to see what changes have been made regarding AI and diplomacy.
