As TheSixthAxis revealed recently, Joe Danger The Movie is heading for PS3. We are now delighted to reveal the full details behind the PlayStation version, including the special extra content.
But first, the dates and pricing: the game comes out in the US on Tuesday Oct 9th for $14.99 and in Europe on Oct 10th for £9.99. That’s next week, fact fans.
But the extra content, that’s exclusive to PS3 owners? It’s called “Joe Danger Gaiden”, and it’s – according to studio head Sean Murray – a “throwback” to when they made the original Joe Danger.
“As four guys sat in a room playing our own game, we fell into that classic trap of playing our own game too much. Our first prototype was this very tight, very challenging game that took about 10 hours to complete,” said Sean.
“No tutorials, no handholding, just fun arcade gameplay. Our friends loved it, but only the most skilled players could master it. Actually, if I remember right, none of us were able to complete it.”
As Joe Danger neared release, the game changed – it was more accessible, and easier. About half the levels were scrapped as they were simply too hard. And now, they’re back. “I thought it would be a great opportunity to let our original fans play that unseen game,” Sean told TheSixthAxis.
“What’s cool is it’s a complete game that takes easily ten hours to complete. Many of the levels will be familiar to fans of the original, and others are experiments that we loved but were too challenging or quirky for the main game.”
They’re all tweaked, too, with all the new stuff from Joe Danger 2. It’s 25 new levels in total.

Fantastic news, I wasn’t expecting it quite so soon. Definite day 1 purchase as the first game was incredibly good fun … except for the final level, that was just nasty.

Was wondering how long it would take to head to PSN given the PS3 version was at Eurogamer last weekend. Cracking little game :)

Only if comes to Vita.
Or PS+, I suppose.
Quite liked Joe Danger when I sat down and played it, but it’s just not a game I go back to a lot. When I play my PS3, it’s for bigger experiences as for arcade-type games. Joe Danger would be a perfect portable game though.
