Gaikai’s New Website Teases PS3 Exclusives

Wow, it’s been a while since I used the word ‘Gaikai’ on the site. Humourously, it was probably around about the time we were going crazy with the PS4 rumours, so it’s probably a good thing.

Regardless, Gaikai’s newly revamped website is live (via GAF), and it’s proudly showing off some big name PS3 titles in there, confirming (as if we were in any doubt) that Sony bought the streaming company to run games.

I see Kratos, Helghast, and Drake. Amongst others.

“As a new member of the Sony Computer Entertainment family, we’re working even harder to ensure the world’s best entertainment content is delivered instantly to you, no matter where you are in the world,” says the blurb.

“Truth is, the future has never looked brighter,” it continues. “We’re working hard with Sony Computer Entertainment to advance our cloud gaming platform, and we can’t wait to unveil the next generation of it to you.”

Looks like it’s coming soon ish, whatever this new service is…

  1. Nice sexy design there.

So Sony could licence Gaikai to like Samsung et all to use on there Smart TV’s and to stream Uncharted/God of War – that would be brilliant.

    • Or Vita.

      • Vita was my first thought too! Maybe even a PS+ pack in?

      • Oh yea of course :) But I still prefer localised gaming due to less input lag but if it expands more people to Kratos and Nathan drake then good for Sony and Playstations recognition.

    • The Samsung licence deal was signed way before Sony took control so I doubt there is much leeway there. They wouldn’t want to leave it as a Samsung exclusive as Sony need all the TV sales they can get so I expect some negotiations have taken place to redefine some of the terms of the contract.

  2. I really don’t see me playing any of these games on any other plattform then psvita.

  3. Bringing PS3 titles to the PC-based architecture of the PS4 without near impossible emulation of weird PS3 architecture.

Streamed gaming’s real win is when you can play advanced games on a dumber machine that otherwise wouldn’t be capable of it eg. PS4 games on a Gaikai client on PS3 and of course Vita, but then of course Sony wouldn’t be able to sell new boxes.

    • All well and good if the internet is good enough – my net is 3.5mb – stable for online gaming but for streaming hell no.

A future without any localised play is long way off if ever. I like a choice – retail, download, streaming. That’s what I believe Sony bought Gaikai for to offer more choice.

      • Yeah, I’ve got about 2mb. And I’ll always prefer to own games, rather than just have the right to play them off a server on the internet. If someone in a different room decides to watch youtube, then that will effect the game-experience. And if the internet fails….

  4. The thing I would like to know is on which devices Gaikai will stream Sony’s games ? Because if it will work on another Sony’s devices, why we have to buy Playstation hardware ? Or Sony plans to stop hardware in the future ?

  5. Interesting.

But only to the level I can find 4G technology interesting.

I won’t be able to get a good enough connection for this to work- Netflix barely does in my house, never mind interactive gaming.

  6. They will drop the ‘Gaikai’ name i hope???

  7. I can’t wait to play Uncharted 3 in lossy 640×480 and net congestion.
