Microsoft’s Kinect-powered Fable: The Journey has limped into the UK sales charts at #37. The game has seen confusing messages since its first reveal, and mixed reviews last week didn’t really help.
The truth is that Kinect is still very much an unknown driver of sales, and basing one of your key IPs around motion control is a risky business.
The rest of the chart plays out as expected, though – with FIFA atop and the new XCOM a new entry at number 7. Bethesda’s Dishonored enters at number two, which is great news for a new property.
Here’s the rundown:
1. FIFA 13 (EA)
2. Dishonored (Bethesda)
3. Pokemon Black 2 (Nintendo)
4. Resident Evil 6 (Capcom)
5. Pokemon White 2 (Nintendo)
6. Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft)
7. XCOM: Enemy Unknown (2K Games)
8. Borderlands 2 (2K Games)
9. F1 2012 (Codemasters)
10. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
11. Sleeping Dogs (Square Enix)
12. PES 2013 (Konami)
13. Forza Motorsport 4 (Microsoft)
14. Rocksmith (Ubisoft)
15. New Super Mario Bros 2 (Nintendo)
16. Gran Turismo 5 Academy Edition (Sony)
17. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision)
18. NBA 2K13 (2K Games)
19. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (Warner)
20. Dead Island GOTY (Koch)

With the Pokemon’s having success testing new parts :P
Origami Killer
And Just Dance 4 having used it’s old reused set up which always gets the points.

As you say, pretty much as expected. Just great to see some new IPs floating around in the top 20.
Wasn’t planning on picking up Dishonored this weekend (what with Forza out very soon) but the Mrs bought me it anyway as a belated anniversary pressie. I’m only a couple of missions in but its been really enjoyable so far and I really like the multiple ways you can tackle each mission (very Hitman-esque).

That is a nice varied top 20 there, some very good games! Shame XCOM wasn’t higher, it’s nice to have a decent strategy game on consoles! One for the Vita would be most welcome.

Would have sold a boatload on PC digitally too

Looking at steam figures todays peak usage is over 75k on xcom so allowing for people at work/time zones etc i’d sale a few 100 thousand would have sold digitally.

Been having great fun with XCOM this weekend, what an amazing game.

Played a few hours of dishonored at the weekend, really enjoyed what I’ve played so far. It’s good to see it so high in the charts. Not surprising to still see FIFA top, it’s a great improvement on last years and the best football game available.

Considering Fable:Journey recieved little to no advertising and marketing, it’s no wonder it has sold badly. Hell, i didn’t know it was out untill i noticed IGN’s video review of it in my sub box on YT. :O If i only find out a game due to a video review then you are doing it wrong.
Not surprised Dishonoured is at number 1. Although i would have thought XCOM would be at number 2.

Most confusing comment ever o_O

Perhaps he is FIFA blind? :)
Or doesn’t consider it a ‘proper’ game release as its yearly maybe?
Care to clarify Steve?

Ah, i must have scrolled down faster then i had intended to thus causing me to believe Dishonoured is at number 1. O-o Plus i’m going to use the It’s a monday excuse. Patented by Steven. Use at the risk of recieving a kitchen sink to the face.
Forrest_01
See, told you – FIFA blind.
Well it’s either that or some reference to poor sight, which could lead to hints of hairy palms & i’m just not prepared to go down that line of enquiry! :)
The Lone Steven
Well, i have been beating my snake of late….. ;)
