What isn’t that difficult to confirm though, is that from January to September that claim is true. According to GFK Chart-Track data, the 360 has outsold the rest for the first three quarters.
According to product manager for Xbox Live Pawan Bhardwaj, the company is “very, very confident” that they’ll ‘win’ the battle over Sony and Nintendo.
“The data we have is for the January to September period, but I can absolutely assure you that the Xbox 360 will be the best-selling console for the calendar year,” said Bhardwaj.
Chart-Track confirmed that they’ve given Microsoft the data for the nine months so far, but haven’t yet announced who’s been the top selling. Mainly, as you can imagine, we’ve still got a few weeks left. “We will reveal the year’s best-selling hardware when the year is over,” they said.
Sony aren’t lying down, though. UK boss Fergal Gara recently said that Sony “see ourselves well positioned for the casual market who won’t buy Wii U on day one,” pointing to the revised PS3 model and the imminent release of Wonderbook.
