F1 Race Stars Gets PS3 Demo Tomorrow

We quite liked F1 Race Stars in our most recent hands-on preview, and whilst we’re bubbling away with the full review it’s worth mentioning that if you’re on the fence about the game there’s a playable demo landing tomorrow.

The demo’s just one track (Germany) but it’ll support both single-player and up to four-player split-screen, so you can get an idea of what the game’s like with local multiplayer. In the build we’ve got it’s still lovely and smooth, which is nice to see.

The demo, which lets you play as Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel or Kimi Räikkönen, should be out as part of SCEE’s PSN Store Update tomorrow, although Xbox 360 owners will be able to grab it later today.

F1 Race Stars is a ‘kart-esque’ take on the sim, with much simpler handling and bright, colourful graphics. The target market might not be your average hardcore gamer, but it’s a fun diversion and a good laugh with some mates. Sadly, there’s no drifting…

Look out for our full review soon.

  1. Glad to hear there’s a demo, it’ll help me make up my mind to buy, or not.

  2. I like the look of this. Well definitely download the demo, thanks for the heads up.

  3. This looks great. It may be a blatant mariokart copy, or at least heavily “inspired”, but I think this is a nice fresh direction for an F1 IP. Somehow the whole thing gels very nicely and I think it will be an easy one for parents to pick up for their kids during the holidays. The F1 angle gives it a bit more of a predictable/organized sports-feel than the chaotic nuts-and-bolts style of Little Big Planet karting (or whatever it is called) etc.

That said, it’s definitely not for me :)

  4. Looks like great fun, will be queued on my download list tomorrow for sure!

  5. If the handling is a bit tighter than is evident in other karting games i might be interested, will give the demo a go.

  6. Definitely going to get the demo, and glad it has 4 player split-screen. Hope the handling is like a proper karting game, the handling will be the only thing stopping me from getting it. Will it be up on the US Store tonight does anyone know?

  7. Glad there’s a demo. The lack of drift is making me think it will stuck.

  8. Cannot wait to try this! Love F1, Love Mario Kart.. how can this fail *crosses fingers*.
