PS Vita To Get Firmware 2.00, PlayStation Plus, With Uncharted, Gravity Rush And Chronovolt In Instant Game Collection

The PS Vita will be getting an update to version 2.00 of the system software very soon, Sony have said to TheSixthAxis today. And with it, PlayStation Plus – the service that’s already seen an impressive array of discounts, additional features and free games on the PlayStation 3.

Plus for Vita goes live on the 21st of November in the UK, and will be available to existing PS3 subscribers at no additional cost. It’ll come with its own Instant Game Collection, which will include the likes of Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush and Chronovolt, the latter of which is a brand new title which is great news for Vita owners.

Four games per month will be featured, Sony tell us, along with free play, exclusive discounts and online storage. Sony are promising 14 games and at least five new games a month, which means over 65 games a year for PS3 and PS Vita.

We’re also assuming that Trophy updates will be automatic, like they are with the PS3, but we’ll need to check and confirm that.

  1. Better than I expected. I have two of the games (uncharted and mutant blob) and wouldn’t have bought Gravity Rush as it doesn’t look like my sort of game but I’ll definitely give that a go now.

Chronovolt looks right up my street, nice to be getting an extra 1GB of space for the Vita saves as well.

  2. …Great now I’ll need a 32gb memory stick, shame theres no PSone classics or PSP games though.

  3. Great games! Why no mention of that Blobs in Space game? I thought you gave it a terrific review?

  4. wow what a great offer hope Sony do some adverts with PS+.

  5. Damn ! Hopefully ill be getting a Vita for Xmas so these are welcome appearances and there’s still Decembers update to come. I seriously cannot complain when it comes to plus.

  6. Two things to say about this:
1 already bought several of those games. Bum.
2 well done Sony. It was always going to be a tough one introducing plus on vita given its limited selection of releases (not a dig, just referring to how new system and catalogue are) but I think that’s a damn good effort.

  7. Good news……although I did just buy both Uncharted & Gravity Rush :(
Tempted, as I can get a 1 year subscription for PLUS off e-bay for 33 quid :)

  8. wowzer.
that is a pretty impressive list.
Jet Set Radio is also a launch freebie.
(not sure if its been said, i didnt read the coments)

    • That is for the North Americans.

      • That is really my only complaint about it – and I admit that when we’re getting extra games for a service that is already very generous I should be happy – but it’s a shame that there once again isn’t parity with our American cousins, who’ll also be enjoying Jet Set Radio (which I’m dying to get) as well as Wipeout 2048 and Final Fantasy Tactics.

      • Exactly. They get Jet Set Radio HD, WipEout 2048 and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions as well as the other games. It’s almost double the content!
Even when Sony does something well to surprise us, it always manages to leave that sour aftertaste of “fuck you Europe, and thank you for your money”.

      • Not really the most recent PS+ update on the PS3 was better over here than NA.

      • Yeah, it’s true, lately Plus in EI has been better than the US Plus. When it’s good, it has to be said as well.

  9. That sounds like a great deal. Anyone who has a pop at plus can’t really be on the level. Don’t have a vita but very tempted to download titles onto ps3 then get a vita at some point when the price drops. Game on!

  10. Have all but jet set and the PSP game (I am US) but this still rocks. Been a plus owner since day one and have never regretted it.

Definitely a good move to get the system selling for the holidays. Uncharted, wipeout, and gravity rush alone are huge draws. Going to try and push a few friends with PS3s over to the dark vita side. :)
