Distant Worlds Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Concert Giveaway

[drop2]On December 7th, Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy is returning to Chicago to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series.

The nearly sold out event promises to be one of the biggest yet, and we have two pairs of tickets to give away to our lovely TSA readers.

The celebration, which takes place at the Akoo Theater, will have a special lobby event that takes place before and after the concert.

This includes a special duet performance by Nobuo Uematsu and conductor Arnie Roth, a Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy tournament where you can win a custom FFXIII-2 console, and a Final Fantasy themed photo booth. Everyone that attends the concert will also receive a free limited edition poster. It’s going to be awesome, to say the least.

It’s really exciting being able to send another group of TSA readers to one of these events again. I’ve had the privilege of attending every concert in Chicago since they started doing this back in 2005 and it has only gotten better each and every time. If you have never been to a Distant Worlds before, this is your chance to experience the brilliant work of Nobuo Uematsu live.

Here’s how to enter:

We want to know what your favorite song is from the Final Fantasy series and why. Leave a comment below with your answer by Monday, December 3rd to enter.

To be eligible, you must be able to seriously attend the event on December 7th. Obviously this is aimed at TSA readers in Chicago – we can’t pay for any travel or expenses. Winners will be chosen using random.org and will be contacted via email.

We encourage you to leave a comment even if you are not entering the contest, but please leave a note stating so. It will make the selection process much easier to go through. For full details on the event, be sure to check out the official Distant Worlds website.

  1. “To Zanarkand” – Final Fantasy X

This is, not only, the best piece of music I have heard in a Final Fantasy game, but probably one of the greatest, and most moving, pieces of music I have ever heard in my life. Every since I first was serenaded by its sweet tune, it has echoed peacefully ever since. It’s a beautiful piece from my favourite games in the series.

Both the original mix, and just the piano rendition, are superb.

  2. My favorite song is Tifa’s Theme. It was actually played at my wedding! I like it so much because Tifa is my favorite character and it’s a great song to relax to.

I am in the area, so I am entering the contest!!

  3. My favourite song has got to be that of “Melodies of Life”. It’s an absolutely beautiful song that i could listen to all day, while imagining the wonders of final fantasy IX.
The reason that this is my favorite is because the first final fantasy i ever played was IX, and I immediately fell in love with it.it brings back great memories. And I’d love to receive there tickets! Thanks for the offer regardless!!!

  4. I’d have to say my favorite song is Aeris’s theme… kinda cheesy but just because of the memories. FFVII was just a favorite, and it’s sad but beautiful.

Would love to see you guys at the show!

  5. why couldn’t you have had this competition when they were playing in November this year for us in the UK

    • I’ll see what I can do to make that happen. It mostly comes down to knowing who to contact. Last time we did a giveaway for Distant Worlds in New York and we were actually approached.

      I’ll try :D

  6. I’d have to say “Dancing Mad” from Final Fantasy VI. It fits the final battle perfectly as the culmination of madness the player has faced throughout the game. The song is so dynamic. Each segment is a great listen. All together it is a masterpiece. I wish I could hear it live.

  7. Into the Darkness from ff4 found on the Celtic Moon cd. Before I even played a final fantasy game, I had heard this song. Oh the things I would imagine while I listened to this track. It is one of the few things from my youth I carry with me today.

I live in Chicago suburbs and have no trouble getting there. This would actually be my first year of having the opportunity to get there. Good to be back in Chicago :)

  8. Liberi Fatali from FF8 is my favorite. It was the very first FF game I played, so that song was the first FF song I’d ever heard. In fact I got the soundtrack before I played the game and Liberi Fatali is the first track. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the music was and I knew I’d love the game. That song was my gateway into the wonderful world of Final Fantasy and it, among the many other great songs, bring up happy childhood memories of being on summer and winter break playing Final Fantasy games. Just talking about it makes me what to play FF8 for the 4th time.

  9. So many choices…but it will have to be One Winged Angel! FFVII was the best game I ever played, loved the movies, prequels, and such. All of the renditions are amazing too, but nothing will beat the original!

  10. Indeed, final fantasy series have lots of spectacular soundtracks and it’s really hard to choose one particular song. But I guess, I’ll go for Aerith’s theme! This is very special to me since Final Fantasy VII was the first FF game I ever play. Every time I hear this, for some reason, it bring back childhood memories. I remember, I cried while listening to this song during Aerith’s death. Because I can’t forget the melody, I even tried playing it in my piano. It’s sad yet it also gives me calmness, joy and hope.

I can and seriously want to go to the concert!
Thanks and have a great day!
