Zavvi Flogging Premium Wii U For £225

If you’ve not bought a Wii U yet because of the price (it’s regularly £300 for the ‘premium’ pack – the one you’d want, really, if you want to future proof yourself and get the best deal possible) then panic not, because high street retailer Zavvi are flogging them for £225 just now.

The deal’s on Zavvi’s eBay shop and not in store, but it looks like a legitimate deal – it’s £75 off the normal price and it includes the rather brilliant Nintendo Land.

The trade price of the Wii U is actually assumed to be around £240, so either Zavvi are making something of a loss here or – probably more accurately – Nintendo have given them some nice pricing for that particular outlet to shift some the stock that’s currently flooding retail.

Either way, this is a great deal – I’m actually loving the Wii U – the off screen play via the GamePad is brilliant, and whilst the specs might not be next gen, once again Nintendo have done something different that’s effortless (at least compared to the bizarrely complicated PS3/Vita Cross Controller situation seen so far) and perfect for someone like me, sharing the main TV with a family.

It looks like over 200 have been sold so far.

  1. Arghh… but hey I was happy paying £300… Let’s hope it helps lift the console

  2. Nice spot! Wonder how long the price will stay like that, I would if I could at just £225.

  3. I’ll wait till sub £200 and more games. Normally I DO buy new shiny gadgets but this just never interested me much. I guess i’m so flooded with ps3/vita games that not got the time for more stuff.

And the fact i’m saving for Next Gen (or the real Next Gen :D).

  4. Wow, cracking deal.

  5. I’ve made my Nintendo purchase for the following year. Picked up a 3DS XL with Mario Kart 7 preloaded for $159.99. Very happy! Wonder if a US store will do something similar Wii U related.

  6. As with any Nintendo console, I’m waiting at least a year to gauge developer support, and more importantly right now I’m waiting for them to integrate firmware updates…

  7. bit early for price drops?

  8. And I just paid £300… worth it.

  9. Now I’m £225 lighter. Cheers for the spotting of this deal.
