Guillermo Del Toro, director of such films as Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy, has revealed that his inSane project is still very much alive. During an interview with the Toronto Sun, he confirmed that he was in talks with a “very big company” regarding the release of inSane, which was cancelled by THQ last year as the company refocused to save itself from going out of business.
There was also talk of having to update the game due to other releases.
“Some of the devices of the game I need to update, because now I’ve seen them in other games that just came out,” said the director. “That always happens. But the principle we’re trying to do with the game is to make it a really immersive narrative experience. It’s still a really challenging proposal.”
Even though there’s very little information on what inSane will actually bring to the table I’m quite excited. Del Toro knows how to create interesting stories. Bringing that talent to the games market could provide a knock on effect in the long term, including a much better relationship between film adaptations of games, and vice versa.
