Media Molecule Show Off New Tearaway Trailer

Sony’s currently ramping up their PS3 and Vita titles via a series of press events. The first, which resulted in a hugely receptive showing of Killzone Mercenary, also featured Tearaway, Media Molecule’s inventive looking platform / puzzler which features you an as in-game god.

Tearaway’s press demonstration focused on a new area, Sogport, which is a “mysterious island marooned in a deep sea of glue, and inhabited by some very fishy folk with a fearful obsession with the island’s monstrous local wildlife.”

Media Molecule also showed off a second character – atoi – who can be selected at the beginning of the game (instead of the previously shown iota).

There’s something refreshing about Sony’s early year demonstrations – they really help to cement what’s coming in the year ahead and whet everyone’s appetite for E3. Of course, this year will be slightly different, but it’s good to see that the Vita is still getting first party games.

  1. Really looking forward to this, it’ll be a refreshing change to see MM move in a different direction to LBP. Not that there is anything wrong with LBP though.
Love that song in the trailer too, gotta love a bit of folk :)

  2. Such a cool looking game.

  3. Looking forward to this game, I’m glad MM are using talents on a different project. Although I hope tearaway isn’t too much like LBP what with the video showing of a centre stage and some gimmicks towards the end.

  4. Getting this fo sure

  5. Very much still got the charm of LBP but the direction it’s going should keep it fresh and intriguing.

  6. I want to like this but I can’t. The whole “papercraft” thing may look quaint but to me it just screams “Can’t be arsed to make decent graphics”.

    • Look passed the simple graphics. It’s tricky but you have to tell your brain “don’t take simple or craft-like graphics to mean shit graphics” and you’ll be fine. ;-)

      • Im gay. This means I am superficial. I need things to look pretty.

        GIVE ME SHINY.

  7. Looks quite nice, I like different art styles in games and the part with the “campfire” impressed me. Gotta have playable demo and decent lifespan but no doubt MM are aware of that.

  8. Cooool

  9. I’m really liking the look of this. Quite interested :)
