Telltale’s The Walking Dead videogame is available for almost every other platform so it’s not a huge surprise to see the announcement that it would be arriving on the PlayStation Vita. That said, this is a nice little boost for Sony’s portable which will see it host to what was many people’s game of the year last year when it was released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and iOS.
There’s no release window just yet, and the structure of the release has not yet been confirmed either. It doesn’t make much sense to release this over a period of months though, as it was on the other platforms, but perhaps a weekly schedule would be a bit of fun and keep it fresh at the forefront of Vita owner’s minds for the duration of its schedule.
This must also be a good sign for season 2 of the zombie-filled adventure landing on Vita too, when that’s ready for release this autumn.
The good news doesn’t stop there though. Don Mesa, who is PlayStation’s Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation, revealed to IGN that there were more than 100 new titles arriving on PlayStation Vita in 2013.
That number of course includes the host of stand-out indie titles already announced – Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor, Frozen Synapse and Hotline Miami – but Mesa also promised that it would include some bigger games too, and that Sony’s first party teams were hard at work for the burgeoning platform.

I wish I could play it again on the Vita with a fresh mind, as in not knowing the plot.

It’s a great bit of news to see although I’m sure there is a little spin behind it… Does it include PSM games? I’ve never had doubt in the platform for myself as it offers access anywhere in the house, ideal with a young child. The Wii U however has been sold!

Shame I just bought Walking Dead, I don’t think they’ll give owners the Vita version for free.

Glad I kept my vita and didn’t rush into selling it. Gonna pick up a host of games (rayman, wipeout, virtua tennis to name a few) now that I see them selling at sub £10 brand new. Gonna get Killzone and FFX. Gonna eventually pick up the PSP versions of god of war alOng with ac liberation when that drops. Still Playing jet pack and still have motor storm, FIFA 13, mgs hd, mutant blobs, mortal kombat, Lego Lotr and all 3 patapons!
Christ! With walking dead and hopefully duck tales hopefully on the way too it’s starting to get good!
And there I was whining that there were fuck all games to play on it!!!……

The Walking Dead on Vita will be great. I’d like to see it as a weekly download rather than a bundle due to the limited space on my memory card.
