Community Chronicle: 12/05/13

So, I think I’m a little bit of a Borderlands convert. I never really saw the appeal until recently, and my attempts at playing the first game were horrible. I first tried it half a year ago when the chat didn’t work on the PS3, meaing I couldn’t talk to my compatriots!

Now we’re chatting on Skype and I’ve started playing a bit of the second game. I’ve decided that it’s rather good. It’s hardly breaking news, but it turns out that playing games designed for co-op when you can actually talk to people is much better. What a surprise!

The car handling sucks on the console version, though.

Are you ready for this? It’s time to see Crazy_Del’s house of trophies. The central operations base of his gigantic platinum trophy collecting apparatus:

My main Rig is a 42″ 3D TV. Just right underneath the TV are my PS2 and PS1 games. You can see only the PS1 Games, but the PS2 ones are at the back. I have tons more PS2 games but I can’t be bothered going in the loft to find the box that says “PS2 and PS1” along with Sega and Super Nintendo!

My games are not in alphabetical order but they are in order of gaming style. So RPG, HD Trilogy, PS Moves, “Games I haven’t opened”, “Games I am close to Platinum” and finally, at the other photo, are “Games that have Multiplayer” (At the top, next to a Killzone Mask, out of shot). The discs you can see are the games I am currently playing to either complete it or to get a Platinum before moving on to the next one. Finally, the photos of the long game shelf are the ones I intend to keep and have already platinumed, but are worth keeping for some replayabilty if I cannot afford to get a PS4.

My favourite pic is the Gaming Collection Display, and it took me an hour to organise that! Unfortunately it does not stay there, it lives in my Collectibles cabinet and that can be really hard to get a photo as it’s so cluttered!

Unfortunately, Del’s collection is rather large, and he sent me bucket loads of pictures! I’ve had to trim things back to show the main collection, alongside the creepiest collectibles ever… Chucky is scary!

My own gaming has been a little restricted this week, aside from polishing off Dead Island: Riptide with Bunimomike and Ry-Ry (Ryan1991) last week, which certainly finished before we were really ready for it to do so! Ah well.

Phantom5813 finished RAGE this week, although they suffered through a rather disappointing ending, whilst Taylor Made endured his girlfriend playing Journey as she tries to get 100% of the trophies. One would speculate that he didn’t enjoy it so much because he wasn’t the one playing it…

Tactical20 polished off Goldeneye before embarking on the task of recreating London’s South Bank skate park in Skate 3, and Crazy_Del also claims an unusual accomplishment – taking out 3 choppers and a jet with a tank in a single match of Battlefield 3. As if that wasn’t enough, he went on to earn the 99 Laps trophy on WipEout HD! He’ll need to put those thumbs on ice for a while!

Temascos is mopping up the last few trophies on BioShock Infinite this week, as he burns through it on easy. Some way behind him are both Youles and Boonba, who are just starting off their 1999 mode attempts.

R1MJAW has 100% with Lego City Undercover on 3DS, while Matthangzhou thought he had the fastest trophy for Borderlands 2. Sadly he was mistaken, but he takes a lovely platinum, and even has 100% on the DLC.

However, we do have a genuine fastest record with BadBoyBoogie blazing through Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel in double quick time.

Finally, Germanos finished Persona 4 this week, but on PS2, citing a fantastic experience which he might be tempted to grab on PS Vita when the price drops. However, in his email he posed the following question:

It hit me when I was watching the ending of the game, the credits and listened to the ending music, which was (as expected of a JRPG) some kind of j-pop song, which I normally don’t like, but somehow in game endings they are perfect. Japanese game endings always bring so much emotion out of me, especially JRPGs (Final Fantasy series, Breath of Fire IV, Suikoden, Tales of… etc.), but other games too, like Metal Gear Solid (PSX), Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (PSX) or Ace Combat: Squadron Leader (PS2).

So I wanted to ask: Which game ending you guys enjoyed the most or were “moved by” the most?

We’re nearly done, but you can head over to page two for the full trophy leaderboards. To finish off this page, we have the usual submission form for photos and accomplishments. Don’t hold back!

  1. Riptide was lovely fun but I’m slowly coming around to Borderlands 2 (PC). It took two attempts to get going as it was positively dead to me the first time around – let alone the first game, itself, being an awful experience for me too. Still… it’s a bit of fun so far.

  2. Nice collection Del, if I owned that many games and special editions, it would be nowhere near as tidy as that!

    • Haha thanks gazza I fear for when PS4 comes out. I need a bigger room or even space!

  3. You have a Vaul Boy, you win :)

    • I also have the Fallout Tin Lunch Pack thingy (Fallout 3 Limited Edition) its around here somewhere lol

  4. Really nice setup and collection there Del. If you’re running out of room though, i’ll happily look after some of your collection for you! =P
I might send in my setup someday. Got a project planned to put my collection on display before I do that though =)
