Nintendo aren’t doing the usual E3 conference this year, instead funding their own streamed Nintendo Direct broadcast to coincide with the usual press conferences from Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and EA.
This broadcast comes after all the others and will be at 3pm UK time (7am PDT, 10am EDT) so mark that in your calender/PDA/mobile phone or whatever the technology is these days.
It’s a smart move – previous Direct broadcasts have been focused and clear, while Nintendo’s E3 conferences have at times been a bit muddled (just look at the Wii U reveal) and since most viewers are through the livestream itself, it probably works out better for them, allowing them to do more on their own terms.
We can expect to see the new Super Smash Bros. game (eeee!), a new 3D Super Mario title (wooo!) and a new Mario Kart, all for the Wii U as well as a host of other games – it’s easy to see that I’m very excited. Since this broadcast is Wii U centric, we’re unsure if Nintendo will do a follow-up 3DS Direct but that should mean even more time dedicated to new Nintendo titles!
For some clarity, other conferences – in UK time – are as follows:
- Microsoft Monday 10th June 5.30pm
- EA Monday 10th June 9pm
- Ubisoft Monday 10th June 11pm
- Sony Tuesday 11th June 2am

as for the Nintendo event, the game i’m most interested in is Monolithsoft’s new title, so i’m hoping they show some more of it.
i absolutely loved Xenoblade, so i’m eager to see more of their sequel/follow on/whatever it is.
