References To Mirror’s Edge 2 Found On EA.COM

mirrors edge 2

Following on from two distinct appearances on European branches of Amazon, EA’s own site is the latest location to find itself the host of Mirror’s Edge 2 information.

This time it’s not a pre-order page or a hastily huddled together Xbox One packshot, but a blank, holding page for the unannounced game’s ‘help’ screen on EA’s Help Center.

The page is here.

Note that whilst this doesn’t confirm anything, other URLs thrown in at random result in an error page, suggesting at the least there’s a database reference for Mirror’s Edge 2 in there somewhere.

Chances are we’ll hear more about this at E3 in just under two weeks.

  1. yep looks like we have to wait till E3 it be a great as a launch title on next gen systems it was on my wish list a few weeks ago and now it looks like my wish is coming true lol

  2. Don’t you dare annouce this as an exclusive for the X1. Don’t you bloody dare! I enjoyed the first game and would love to play the sequel. Provided it is still in first person and not a FPS as that was the unique selling point of Mirror’s Edge. But knowing EA, it will focus on the gunplay and be more of a shooter then parkour. :-/

    • if they did then the only people losing out would be EA to be honest. Most of EA’s games like FIFA are bought on the PS3, so they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

      • It’s impossible to know for sure, because reliable sales data isn’t released, but I think FIFA might be the only one where the PS3 version outsells its 360 counterpart. And that’s because of the lead in hardware that the PS3 has in Japan and Europe, I think. Madden, for example, probably sells many more on 360 than PS3. Mirror’s Edge (the first one) probably sold more on 360 than PS3, just like every other third party title (with figures quoted) this generation, it was probably a rough 60/40 split in the 360’s favour.

      • thats fair enough, but for EA to just suddenly lose 40% of sales/revenue is not a good thing for its shareholders. I know I would be bricking it if I had an investment in them.

Unless, Microsoft are going to EA for the money they would be losing from not putting it on the PS4? That is a HUGE amount of money, and I can’t see that happening.

      • That’s a fair point. I guess it’s a question of whether the extra marketing push that Microsoft will give an exclusive is worth risking the loss in PS4 sales. We’ll see, I suppose!

      • What might be the profit on a million copies sold on the PS3 (or PS4)? Microsoft would have to throw down a good portion of that to make up for the loss if they make it exclusively for X1 (and/or 360).

Saying that, they might not have to cover the whole amount as EA will probably say “we’ll take 70% of the loss from you but we want it up front” which is a huge amount there and then without waiting for consumers to do their thing.

      • Microsoft tend to prefer timed exclusives, so unless this has some vital, unremovable Kinect functionality I wouldn’t be too worried.

  3. I’d be deeply upset if Mirror’s Edge 2 becomes an Xbox One exclusive. Mirror’s Edge is my all-time favourite game ever, I clocked up more hours on that game than any game I can remember. Every year I’ve been crossing my fingers to hear the slightest mention of a sequel, but there’s been none, until now.

If this becomes an Xbox One exclusive, I fear that I’m going to have to switch my PS4 pre-order to an Xbox One. But I don’t want to do that, as everything we’ve learnt about both consoles so far shows that the PS4 is miles ahead and is the definitive console of choice. What to do… ahhhh. :(

Hopefully it will be available on both consoles at launch, please don’t screw this up EA.
