The Xbox One will be releasing worldwide – across 21 markets – this November, confirming the Rare director’s earlier slip-up announcement.
The console will be priced at $499, $499 Euros or £429 here in the UK. That’s quite a hefty price, but means that November will continue to be the busiest release month for games.
There’s no exact date – we’ll get that later – but it’ll be interesting to see when the PS4 launches, there could be quite a stir if it’s in the same timeframe. There will also be a “Day One” edition, though there are next to no details for what this includes as of yet.
The PS3 launched at £425, which Sony got a lot of flak for. It should be interesting to see how the Xbox One compares – will it have a similar rocky start? We’ll see after November…

£429 is way too much for me, add the fact that I cant lend my games to friends and vice versa and that it has to do its E.T routine once a day to verify I still own the game its a no from me.

It does seem rather a lot. I won’t be getting one, but I had been put off long before this was revealed. Friends that own a 360 have already announced their disgust at Microsoft’s next console, which is great for me! More people to play online with.

I’m no fanboy, but MS have truly lost the plot. Thing is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony come out with something similar! We’ll wait and see….

Price is subjective, I spent that much on my last PC graphics card so I don’t think it’s *that* expensive. As has been said, the main thing is going to be how it relates to the PS4 price, I doubt it’s going to lose any of its core fans but if the PS4 is significantly cheaper for what most agree is a more capable console then the Xbox One is going to be a tough sell to new users.

The launch price for the PS3 was 600€, which is around 510£ in today’s conversion rate.
I do hope that the PS4 is cheaper…

There’s been a few rumours that the PS4 will be $50 cheaper than the X1.
£429 sounds a lot (and it is) but if you think the latest top end graphics cards can retail at up to £800 then it’s not overly expensive.
