Grand Theft Auto V still hasn’t been announced for next-gen consoles yet (it’s not even announced for PC) but Rockstar have today said that the game “takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles.”
In a new question and answer session, the developer says GTA V “is the largest and most ambitious game [they] have yet created” and will maximise what the PS3 and Xbox 360 are capable of outputting.
“In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems,” it continues. The 360 version will be on two disks with the first as an install, and on PS3 it’ll soak up 8GB of your hard drive space in a mandatory install.
And the differences between the two versions? “Completely negligible” this time, apparently. “Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem.”
“Like all of our games, trust that we’re committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.”
Rockstar also say that the first gameplay video is coming “soon”.

But will it be fun? Will we not feel like that we have to do the story because there is feck all to do? Rockstar, show us some gameplay footage as this means nothing if the game plays like a donkey’s arse. I suspect Naughty Dog may disagree or be surprised by this.

Why can’t they make the PS3 version better than the Xbox 360 version then??? + I guess if the PS4 is more powerful than the X1 next-gen it still will be the same old sh*t from Multi-format game makers :-/ Oh well, must not upset MS i guess LoL:D

The way these gta games are hyped up and released is incredible considering that we barely give much credit to games which only show off pics. I’m jumping the gun as the game is still 2 months away but think of what call of duty n battlefield have already done n they’ve just had 2 years. I would expect to see a lot more in the future but it has only just occured to me that trailers with no gameplay are the main advertisement for la noire.
I’ve lost my point. I just meant that we treat rockstar games as a masterpiece before they are even technically explained and shown in detail. Gta 4 was not worth the high number it has on metacritic but at the time it was the only thing that looked that good. I hope it does go to the vice city san andreas gameplay n story progression cus they were the best. Not saints row silly n not gta 4 serious.

NO R*, just NO, PS3 clearly has more power and the differences on GTA 4 and RDR were visible as the 360 version was better and the PS3 wasn’t even 720p.

If they’ve maxed the PS3 and then game couldn’t run on the 360 or the 360 port more be cut down and compressed.

i mean, what does that even mean?
a game could be poorly optimised and waste all that power, or it could use half the capabilities of the machine efficiently and be awesome.
but like Steven says, will it be fun, a feature largely absent from GTA IV.
