Surprise! Nintendo have just had an unannounced Nintendo Direct, and with it revealed that classic RPG title Earthbound is now available for download for the Wii U from the eShop in Europe. Or, rather, it will be at 5pm.
The same Direct also revealed that DuckTales: Remastered will hit the Wii U on the 15th of August, Cloudberry Kingdom will appear on the 1st and the GamePad focused Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party will also release next month.
Staying with the Wii U, there’s a promotion between Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101. If you buy Pikmin 3 between the 26th of July and the 21st of September from the eShop, The Wonderful 101 will be 30% off.
On the 3DS, the Direct showed off a new Street Pass system that used internet hotspots to connect, even if the player is no longer there with their 3DS.
Finally, a number of SEGA titles will see 3D updates for the 3DS – Altered Beast, Ecco the Dolphin, Galaxy Force, Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Harrier, Streets of Rage and Super Hang-On.

That Pikmin 3/Wonderful 101 deal might make the eShop prices worth considering. Hmmm, I did save a lot of money by staying well clear of the Steam sale…
The 3D update of Space Harrier could well see my 3DS dusted off too.
