There appears to be such a high demand for Sony’s next generation black box that they’re having to impose a pre-order limit in the UK so as to not disappoint fans eager to get the system on day one.
Speaking to CVG, retail sources have confirmed that orders should be placed “before next week” in order for them to be fulfilled on launch day, meaning an effective pre-order deadline of August 5th if you want your PS4 as soon as possible.
This deadline will be across the UK and perhaps even Europe, though there’s no word on whether they’ll be bringing a similar system in for the US or Japan.
If you’re not a fan of pre-ordering, then retailers have been promised extra units for general sale, meaning if you’re there nice and early (or at a midnight launch), you’ll have a good chance of getting a system.
I’ve just placed a provisional order with Amazon, though I’ll likely go to a midnight launch or elsewhere nearer release. How about you?

Pre-ordered mine as soon as it was available (in Portugal), lets hope they’ll see it through!

I’ll be looking to get the system after the first few months. Ideally around March/April.

I’ve been trying to resist per ordering, but this may just tip me over the edge, even though deep down I think there may have been some carefully managed reason to increase per orders up front of Microsoft trying to claw back some more ground!

If you don’t pre-order now then you may not be able to get your hands on one for a further 7 days after release! Pre-order now!

Just put in a pre-order at ShopTo. Fucking hype train bastards. :-(

Got mine pre-ordered at Amazon. Completed the order a few weeks back now.

Why would they want to limit numbers. Seems counter intuitive to me. I won’t be buying day one either way..

I don’t think they would WANT to limit numbers but production can only move so fast.

Look at the hype and excitement it built around “played it once at Christmas” Wii.

I really am on the fence about pre-ordering a PS4, or even going in store and trying to get one on release. I’ll undoubtedly be getting one sooner or later, the question is weather or not I want to be a day 1 guinea pig, in some ways yes, in other ways no. The thing is there’s enough games coming out for the consoles I currently have to keep me more than happy, BUT, I’d love to bring home that black box on launch, simply because I’ve never had a console on release day, and the idea is incredibly appealing to me.
Decisions, decisions.

Just get one. You know you want to.

I’m still not 100% when I’ll be getting a PS4, but I might hunt around and place a pre-order on Amazon or something. Just from reading comments on TSA, I know a lot of people have it pre-ordered at different places and will cancel one nearer release, so I don’t think the supply issue is as bad as it seems.

Pre-ordered at Game after the presentation earlier this year. Had to be done.

Pre-ordered mine from amazon with an extended warranty the morning after e3. Won’t be making that mistake again next gen.
