Pre-Order Your PS4 Now – Sony Imposing UK-Wide Limit

There appears to be such a high demand for Sony’s next generation black box that they’re having to impose a pre-order limit in the UK so as to not disappoint fans eager to get the system on day one.

Speaking to CVG, retail sources have confirmed that orders should be placed “before next week” in order for them to be fulfilled on launch day, meaning an effective pre-order deadline of August 5th if you want your PS4 as soon as possible.

This deadline will be across the UK and perhaps even Europe, though there’s no word on whether they’ll be bringing a similar system in for the US or Japan.

If you’re not a fan of pre-ordering, then retailers have been promised extra units for general sale, meaning if you’re there nice and early (or at a midnight launch), you’ll have a good chance of getting a system.

I’ve just placed a provisional order with Amazon, though I’ll likely go to a midnight launch or elsewhere nearer release. How about you?

  1. I pre ordered back in Feb with Game as I like to support my local retailer, and I don’t have to worry about couriers. Back in 2000 I remember that Sony imposed a limit of 1 console pre order per household on the PS2, I worked for Game at the time and in the first few months leading up to christmas they were like gold dust even at around £300 each, some sold on Ebay for twice that.

    • Anyone that thinks they will get one this side of Xmas without a pre-order is an idiot.

  2. Preorder ed after e3. Was hoping for bundle wars but it doesn’t seem to have materialised. Hey ho. Still getting the beast and still waiting for a release date so I can book holiday and stock up on crisps and beverages and hole myself up in the bedroom for a few days.

  3. I have volunteered to vacuum the carpets at my local game store where I pre-ordered to ensure im at the front of the queue at the midnight launch, the thing is this may be true based on sony’s history of not producing enough consoles to meet demand on launch day, the sheer amount of money Microsoft can throw at their console means they can normally have plenty more consoles available than demand

  4. Well, I hope to get it on the release date since I’ve preordered it in July. I even managed to get it at zavvi.com for £332 – the lowest price in the UK! I’ve used code ZV16127166 when opening a new account and 5% was applied to my first order which included the new controller and a few games as well.
