The “traumatic” Virtue and a Sledgehammer launches on Steam

Credit to Devolver Digital, they have a certain style and just by looking at this trailer, you can tell it’s one of their games. In other words, it’s a bit odd.

Virtue and a Sledgehammer is “explicitly traumatic” and “deals with complicated family dynamics, and a lot of pent-up rage, which can be emotionally taxing”, but ultimately is a game about love. Aww.

The game is set in your home town where android ghosts of your old neighbours are on the lose and you must clear your way with your trusty 20lbs sledgehammer, knocking through the androids and other obstacles. On the way you will recover  childhood memories , both warm and traumatic, as you systematically destroy your past.

“You can’t tear down the place you were born without awakening a few ghosts,” say Devolver.  “The cinematic sequences of interactive fiction will reveal your fears, desires, and your family’s knotty web of virtues and flaws.”

Well, that sounds like a fun evening in.  Joking aside, this does look rather good if you can stomach a bit of family trauma.
