Resident Evil: Revelations HD Was A Big Seller For Capcom

Capcom’s quarterly financials are in, showing a 37.3% drop in profits to 828 million yen.

The publisher cited a lack of major new releases as the cause, hoping that titles such as Lost Planet 3 and the much-anticipated Monster Hunter 4 will help drive their next financial quarter.

It wasn’t all bad new for the publisher, however. In a subsequent report, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil: Revelations HD -an enhanced port of the 3DS original- netted 900,000 in sales worldwide.

Meanwhile, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sold 500,000, impressive considering how the original game launched little more than a year ago.

  1. Owww, dammit! I just remembered how much I want to play Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. After playing Dark Souls, I got so much interested in fantasy/dragons/swords/magic games and the Capcom game looks very promising. Glad to hear is sells well, maybe they will make a sequel :D

    • Dragon’s Dogma is definitely a nice follow-up for anyone playing DS. Not quite as hard and the sidequests are boring as hell but it’s still a good game.

      • Thanks, I assumed from what I have read and seen from DD, that the game would be a bit more “casual” DS. With more story and easier gameplay (very easy to do, when comparing something to DS xD)- and that would be ideal for me ^^

  2. Haha, I can’t imagine Lost Planet 3 will make them the amount of money they are hoping for… I just found out about the third installment the day before yesterday because it popped up on Steam after I was done playing F.E.Z.
Saw a thread on Neogaf yesterday where people also just found out about this through the Steam pre sale ad…

  3. Resident Evil: Revelations Vita. Now I’d have bought that.

  4. Great game. Better suited on 3DS in my opinion but they did a good job with the port nonetheless.

    • Is it more like RE4 or RE6 ?

      • I would say more like RE 6 in the movement (compared to RE4/5’s stop and shoot mechanic). The game is a lot more scare orientated I feel. I haven’t played much of RE6, but from what I have played it feels like an Eastern atempt at ‘Hollywood’ cinema. Again, I have literally only played like an hour of it though, so I may be mistaken. I played Leon’s portion during that hour btw.
RE:Rev is well worth a punt though, especially if it’s a on sale somewhere.
