Nintendo seem to have forgotten about their Nintendo Direct broadcasts and are releasing a barrage of news the traditional press release way, now confirming that the Wii U will be seeing a price cut, at least in North America.
The deluxe edition console will be dropping in price on the 20th of September from $349.99 to $299.99, which might only be $50 but seems like a far bigger jump due to them, dropping the 3 in favour of the number 2 for the second time today.
The console has already dropped in price in the UK, as shops set the price themselves – you’ve been able to pick up a deluxe pack for around £200 multiple times now.
A bundle including the deluxe console and The Wind Waker HD will also be launching on September 20th, meaning that the digital version of the game will be available a few weeks earlier, as well as being included in this bundle.
The game will also release in the form of a limited edition version, which includes a Ganondorf figure, which you can see below.
All good stuff, then. I really can’t wait for The Wind Waker HD – it finally seems as though Nintendo are set to get the ball rolling with the Wii U.

Must be taking tips from MS, they’ll be giving them away in white to staff next.

Ninty needed to do something to try and get folk to buy the Wii U but I can’t see a price cut alone upping sales too much, what they need is a load of top games. And a lot more advertisements to show the U is a new console.

Awesome stuff, and while Wind Waker is the primary reason I own a Wii U, I don’t regret not waiting for this bundle. If it had been a figurine of Link on his boat, I may be typing something different. Bring on October 4th, although an earlier E-shop release may just temp me if the price is right, I do prefer physical media though, especially for games I “care” about.

Rumours are the Ganondorf figurine bundle might go for $55 – so about £40? Bargain.
Mike
£40? I’ll have two!
Mike
£60 from GAME. Will still pre-order it.
Blair Inglis
I can see that dropping, the game’s only meant to be a budget title at £30 or less.
Mike
Hopefully. GAME have the standard listed at £45. Have pre-ordered to secure one – hopefully they will reduce the price.

I had thought the statue was exclusive to a console bundle, weird. I very likely will get this, I think I can part with £60 for it. Game appear to be down at the mo…
