For those looking to pick up three of the biggest launches this year, GAME has detailed a rather tempting trade-in offer prior to their next-gen release.
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners who were perhaps looking to hold back on buying the current generation version of either Call Of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14 or Battlefield 4 – instead opting for the PS4 or Xbox one release – now really have no excuse. “Why wait?” the promotion says. Why wait indeed.
In marketing material tweeted earlier, it’s been revealed that gamers who buy the current-gen titles will be able to trade-up to next-gen on release, with their pre-played game still being worth a “guaranteed £40 trade-in value”.
With all three of the shown titles having previously been announced to have most (if not all) of their player data stored in the ‘cloud’ – meaning statistics and XP will carry over when you upgrade – this seems like a no-brainer for gamers who were thinking about getting the titles for next-gen, and will certainly secure GAME a few crucial sales of those games (and of course, consoles).
FIFA 14 is due for release on PS3 and 360 come September 27th, with Battlefield 4 and Call Of Duty: Ghosts available on the 1st and 5th of November, respectively.

Not sure how i feel about this. Game is pricing next gen games up quite abit. Watchdogs pre-order is £65. Not sure i will be buying as many games as i used to :(

“Watchdogs pre-order is £65” That’s over £15 more than ShpTo, most likely the same for all games.

Will try checking the small print tomorrow at my local store – might be able to get the PS3/360 versions quite cheaply elsewhere and make this a good deal (makes me wish I’d got the FIFA and pants offer from a certain website)

You’ll have to buy them from GAME and hence pay £45, I imagine.

Essentially you’re paying £50-65 for a PS4 copy of the game.
It’s better than nothing though.
I will be waiting anyway because FIFA is the same as last years on current gen, BF4 will be similar to last years on current gen, and COD is always the same on current gen.

I’d rather just wait and pay £40 online for the PS4 versions. £55 for FIFA 14? Jog on.
Tuffcub
Isnt this exactly same thing that MS announced a few weeks back?
fattyuk
No?
Microsoft don’t have shops with pre owned sections in their stores??
Or are you talking about how certain publishers will allow you to upgrade to the newer version for a set price?
xx

Yeah, but that was with Gamestop specifically.

If they’re guaranteeing £40, I think we can assume game will be selling the next gen versions for at least £49.99, if not more considering online retailers are currently at around £47.
I also want to see what the small print is, I bet they have some way of getting out of it if they have to drop prices to compete.
Sad Panda
As I have 2 of those games preordered for £42 each from Amazon, Game can whistle. Each one of those games is £54.99 on Games Website, they often charge more in store so you’ll pay a minimum £15 upgrade and those games on the previous gen will be £50 in store.

But what does the asterisk mean?
“May not actually be £40. External use only. Deal should not be used by pregnant women or large intoxicated men named Steve. WARNING: This deal may cause blindness, space dementia and/or the inexplicable loss of you car keys.”
;)

Currently Game are selling BF4 for £49.99 so you will end up spending £10 extra which is pretty good in my opinion. The problem is that the small print says they can pull this offer whenever they want and will put the credit on to a voucher card.
Seems like a pretty good deal to me. It’s one I think I will go with to be honest.
