Thief is a franchise I personally have never experienced, but what I saw of the reveal of the latest addition to the series has me interested, though it could be compared to Dishonored in some ways, which I really enjoyed. Now Eidos Montreal has spoken to Xbox.com about the game and what next gen allows.
The main points of the interview focus around the advantages the next generation gives to the developers. The City will be larger in scale compared to the previous games, which isn’t surprising, and the graphical upgrade will help make the City feel more immersive. AI will also be much improved, allowing for more AI actions and reactions, as well as provided additional depth to the series lore.
There was also talk of some online fuctionality. Thief won’t feature multiplayer but will feature leaderboards, though on what they’ll score hasn’t been revealed yet. I’m betting mission success, time and how they’re completed will be the main point of the leaderboards.
Thief releases on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on February 28th 2014.

What will be interesting to see is how the current gen versions of these cross-gen games fare.

If this is anything like Deadly Shadows then it’ll be my Game of the Year…

I’m looking forward to it and i hope it measures up well to the benchmark set by Dishonored.

Having not played Dishonered and only seen trailers of both they do look quite similar to one another.I’ve heard good things about both games but Thief is an open world game which really appeals to me and my gaming likes, looking forward to it.
