Gran Turismo 7 For PlayStation 4 “In A Year Or Two”

Famitsu has spoken to Gran Turismo 6 producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, and he has revealed that the physics engine from Gran Turismo 6 – which has been upgraded since the GT Academy demo – will be shared by the currently unannounced Gran Turismo 7.

“The PlayStation 4’s large memory size is a unique trait,” said Yamauchi, “but in terms of CPU performance, the PS3’s Cell chip, while difficult to handle, is really capable. They both have different advantages. Besides, I think the online community aspect, one of the most fun parts of GT, doesn’t have anything to do with the platform.”

The PlayStation 4 game which we’ll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two.

Earlier in the year Kaz revealed that they did have a “have a PlayStation 4 version in mind” of Gran Turismo 6 but had decided to focus on the PlayStation 3.

A PS Vita version of the franchise is “unlikely” according to Sony’s President Of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida but a movie of the game is currently in pre-production.

  1. Makes a lot of business sense I guess. Why bring out a GT6 for next gen which’ll only net them £10-£15 per upgrade code of the PS3 version. Might as well create a full fat £40 version for PS4 and call it GT7….although built on the GT6 engine they’ll just need to add a few things and tweak the menus a bit!!
