Polyphony Digital is set to release a course creator app for Gran Turismo 6, with it available on a number of mobile and tablet devices. The editor will not be coming to the actual game on PS3 though, with courses to be transferred via PlayStation Network accounts. The way it works is that you create a track in the app and then save it to your PSN ID, which will then allow you to download the track in Gran Turismo 6. These tracks can then be driven upon in Arcade mode, Open Lobby events, and shareable in Community Features.
The features of the app include:
- Four different locations will be available, including the Eiger, the Andalusia region in Spain , and the introduction of a new “Death Valley” location.
- Players will have full control of the shape and layout of the course, including the ability to set road width and the banking of corners.
- Roadside items such as plants, trees, buildings, signs, tents, and grandstands can be placed around the circuit.
- Curbing can be placed in custom areas along the edge of the track (though this won’t be in all locations).
Screens of the app were also acquired by GTPlanet.

Absolute crap that it can’t be used in-game or on a Windows OS. Means I can’t use this feature at all, which is typical given it’s the one feature I would’ve gone to town on creating all sorts of tracks including a personal few favourites like Imola and Hungaroring imitations. I hope the upcoming update brings the Bugatti at least, looking forward to that.

A hint of things to come in GT7? If not, I don’t know what they’re playing at.

The course maker was a promised feature of GT6, hence it’s somewhat late arrival. Hopefully they’ll bring a lot of the features into GT7 as well, including the VGT cars.

Or….
Maybe, they could…..
PUT IT IN THE DAMN GAME! Now, i’m not sure if it’s a heavily requested feature but I am bloody fed up of major features(assuming this is one) being put onto Apps instead of in the fuc.. I mean, fricking game! Sure, there’s little apps that are optional and I don’t mind them. e.g. GTA 5’s license plate and Chop apps but fricking things like this just fricking piss me off!
I swear, if this becomes a new trend and then the norm, I will be very disappointed and probably become an old fart that rants about the old days of gaming where we got everything on the disc. I may need to buy a Gandalf Wig and Beard.

It’s a great little app, I’ve been messing around with it today on the ipad and am very impressed. One of the coolest features is the ability to import overhead pictures of race track’s (pictures abundant on t’interweb) into the editor and impose or rather trace over that picture for an exact reproduction.
You just then need to import and test drive the track in GT6 before being able to save it for future use…cracking! Oulton Park I hear ya! :P
