Recent trends have seen people on YouTube include picture-in-picture commentary in their YouTube videos or live stream broadcasts. This has become extremely popular, particularly with horror titles, allowing you to see a genuine reaction from the player.
It was revealed by Microsoft’s Phil Harrison that the Xbox One will have this functionality built in, allowing players to record video commentary over pre-recorded (so not live streams, then) broadcasts. This is done during the upload process, using the Kinect camera to create a picture-in-picture overlay.
The functionality still has a long way to go: you can’t upload these to social sites such as Facebook and YouTube just yet, and you’re limited to 720p footage, with a maximum length of just five minutes, but it’s certainly a good start and an indication that Microsoft are pushing the Game DVR in the right direction.

Well we already know that PS4 will allow picture-in-picture and so if that doesn’t include audio i would be surprised – whether that entails live audio or the possibility of adding it in afterwards we’ll have to wait and see though. The latter option is definitely much more flexible approach.
