Xbox One TV Advert Features Spock, Steven Gerrard And Romans

The above advert shows what you can expect in the next generation, including Star Trek blending with real life, Steven Gerrard inviting a fan onto the pitch to join in and a Roman army marching down the street and tipping quite well.

It’s a decent enough advertisement, though pretty standard. I think it gets the point across well enough, and shows just how well Microsoft’s next generation console seamlessly blends entertainment, while still focusing on the games.

  1. Not bad, kinda like it actually…

  2. Pretty cool :) Pumped for launch day.

    • You might want to ‘jump ahead’ to when all the features actually work. What a stupid slogan

  3. Good advert.

  4. MS could make the greatest advert the world has ever seen but I still won’t be buying an Xbone.

    • Me neither… Even if it was being paraded around and straddled by hot naked chics drinking beer. Although I would have a very slight bit of admiration for Microsoft in doing so but I have a feeling that’s not gonna become a reality.

      • Let us collectively think about that advertising campaign for a little while…

      • It’s even better if you imagine a PS4 instead of the Betamax box.

    • Ditto. Microsoft can pour billions into buying B-list celebs to push their products, but at the end of the day, it’s the games, the hardware, the running costs and what your friends have that sell a console.

The PS4 delivers on all these, the Xbox One doesn’t.

Ancidotal, every PS3 owner I know is getting or will get a PS4, conversion rate 100%. Xbox360 owners, at least 50% of the ones I know are sick of how Microsoft has treated them this gen, and/or how the botched launch and are now firmly getting PS4. Conversion rate 50% or less.

  5. I want one but i know it’ll end up gathering dust after a month.Shame, good advert though.

    • Why would it gather dust? With no disrespect to the PS4, the X1 seems to have a lot more to play in the early months.

      • what are you talking about the PS4 has over 20 more games to play?

      • Given most of those games are multiformats they can be played on either console. The only difference here is the number of exclusives which, regardless of your Sony allegiances, the X1 is winning by a long way currently.

      • yawn

      • Magpie syndrome bud,see something shiny and new and i want it straight away but after a couple of weeks it’ll start gathering dust.I even cancelled my ps4 pre-order but that has more to do with the games at launch. You never know i might end up buying an xbox one in the future and stick to playing that but at the moment i’ll stick with the ps3/ps vita and get my ps4 in January.

      • they can not be played on ether console, & most game announcements as well just have PS4 & PC in the title. your a xbox fan I get it but please use common sense, when you have finished your XB1 games the PS4 will still have 20 more titles XB1 wont have to play!! so it will get dusty imo.

    • yawn

  6. Pretty cool, especially getting Zachary Quinto & Stevie G involved.

  7. I think the PS4 Greatness Awaits is the best ad so far for the next gen

  8. also this add is sorely missing Bob Carolgees and Spit the dog.

  9. Where’s the TV? Where’s the American Football and Basketball coverage?

    • Where were the games? Over a minute in you get about 3 seconds worth of game footage.

I actually want an Xbox one for dead rising, Halo and Gears of War(assuming they make another one), but not at that price or with Kinect. I will buy one as soon as there is a kinect free bundle for £250 or less, until then, November 29th cannot come soon enough.

  10. ROAR!!!! TITANFALL…….

    NEW XBOX ONE 22nd November

    *shh* Titanfall available Spring 2014

    • LOL I thought that too when I watched it. That said, Titanfall is shaping up to be the biggest game of 2014 (and certainly the biggest game on the console thus far) so it makes sense I guess to throw it in there.

      • Possibly, but then again it’s coming up against Destiny as well…. but that’s not getting pulled out as a party trick every time the XB1 or PS4 launch is mentioned.

It’s unfortunate that MS seem to be pushing Titanfall at the expense of things that will actually be out next month.

      • Destiny is multiformat though. Seems a bit pointless putting a huge focus on a game you can get for the rival platform – yes, Titanfall isn’t an X1 exclusive but it is a Microsoft exclusive.

I dunno. I think they’ve done a pretty good job at focusing on their “big four” (Forza, Dead Rising 3, Ryse and KI) but at the same time reminding people that Titanfall is there in the new year – the same way Sony are, quite rightly, reminding people that you can play Killzone on launch day but Infamous will be landing Feb next year.

      • Indeed…. but MS is pushing an EA game as exclusive, which for now it may well be, but it’s also not mentioning it’s also available for PC. And EA is quite happy to branch out once exclusive titles – take Mass Effect 1 and 2 for example

      • I think most X1 buyers know that Titanfall will end up being a timed exclusive (EA love money, multiformats = money), but it could be a long way off and it will shift X1 consoles so it makes sense I guess to flaunt it as much as possible for now.
I could never work in the industry, I’d be too honest I think.
“Come by Titanfall! But don’t worry if you don’t want an Xbox, we will be coming to PlayStation soon too!”
