Kinect Sports Rivals was one of the unfortunate victims of what I’ve decided to call “Next-gen Launch Window Syndrome”. That’s really just a convoluted way of saying that, like much else we were excited about for our next gen console launches, it got a bit of a delay.
Well, that bitter pill has now received a spoonful of sugar to make it easier to swallow. Rare has announced that it’s arm-flailing, leg-swinging sequel will have a fancy trial version available when Microsoft’s new console launches on November 22nd. Early adopters will be able to download the “preseason” pack between the 22nd and 30th- the day after the PlayStation 4’s release in Europe.
There will also be a nifty Kinect Sports Rivals Hub to download which will allow you to keep track of global leaderboards and challenges. Those who get in on the camera-activated fun early will earn some in-game bonuses for the game – the “Founder” player title and a wake racer and wetsuit.
The full game is now expected in Spring 2014, along with everything else, and you’ll be able to wave at Wake Racing, Climbing, Soccer, Target Shooting, Bowling and Tennis.

Did you know the word ‘demo’ is an anagram of ‘preseason’, give or take a few letters?

It’s neat that there is still going to be a demo for those disappointed by the launch delay – if only the same was happening with DriveClub.
