November 15 is upon us, which means next-gen has arrived, and after 9 long months of waiting since it’s original reveal PlayStation 4 has tonight finally gone on sale in the US.
To celebrate the brand new hardware, Sony executives Andrew House and Jack Tretton have been talking about the console’s appeal, its “immersive gameplay experience” and the “gamer inspired, developer focused” forethought that led to tonight’s monumental launch.
PlayStation 4 hits UK shores in 2 weeks time, November 29th. We cannot wait.

Andrew House’s comment “The best gaming experience out there, but will become a truly multifunctional connected device for all forms of entertainment” suggests to me that that Sony are going to try to cover all the bases with the PS4 – but at least this time will be starting with the right foundations. After all, it should be games first and foremost.

Yeah, get gameplay sorted for launch and add, dare I say, mp3 playback, 3D blu ray, in the coming months. I predict Sony to show off a virtually different system at E3 next year with system software 2.0….
Although, I still haven’t found out about game demos on PS4, are they downloadable like current gen or is the gaikai 60 minute streamed full game trial in operation right now? After the poor reviews for knack I’d like to demo that first…

The playstation team is awesome. Tretton, House, Yoshida, Cerny…They are all superstars :)

You can’t beat the M-team of Mattrick, Spencer, Mattrick and Ballmer.
Oh wait…

Completely agree with Jack Tretton, we don’t care weither it’s 1080p or 720p. The only thing that matters that it looks good.
The game that really shows this is GTA 5. There are games with better graphics out there, but I consider GTA 5 to be one of the best, maybe THE BEST, looking games out there. They made it feel so real, so captivating. The colors they chose to use, the lighting, it all fits.
And yes,GTA 5,gave me that feeling of: OMG! How did they do that ?

Yeah, for an open world game, GTA V is incredible. Such a step up from GTA IV

It continues to do that, for me. There’s artistic beauty (ie. Journey). Then there’s technical prowess (ie. cityscapes from Killzone Shadowfall). Then there’s utterly captivating places, with lighting and shadows that we could’ve only dreamed of a handful of years ago on the current hardware. GTA V looks staggering.

Still didn’t get around playing GTA V, but if I’m honest, there are films I’ve seen on old fashioned, quite low-res TV many many years back, and these looked more real than any game I have ever experienced on full HD. Resolution is cool for sure, but there are things resolution cannot compensate.

They’ve certainly done a fantastic job with everything PS4.
