Microsoft has released a new trailer showing where different developers talk about the online features about their games from Drivatar in Forza 5, to background upgrades and tweaks in Killer Instinct.  Other games on show include Ryse: Son Of Rome, Powerstar Golf and  Battlefield 4, which also shows the Kinect being used by the player to lean and peak around a corner.

The Xbox One launches this Friday.

  1. Not sure about this ‘lean and peak around a corner.’ thing. It sounds good, but I can’t sit still for longer than about 30 secs. My player would look like he’s line dancing or doing the twist.

    • Also makes him look a bit stupid.

    • This is actually the type of features that I’ve wanted from the the announcement of Kinect. I always wanted slight body movements to be put in game. Hopefully will make the character move more naturally, I don’t know what it’s going to be like now may still be janky and stiff but hopefully down the line I’ll be able to move my characters body with my own, freeing up buttons and directional movement for other things.

  2. I hope games are tweaked and patched sensibly in the background. One of the things that’s really put my nose out of joint recently is the hilarious number of patches on Payday 2 (PC/Steam). The game, ultimately, was launched around a month too early and it really showed. It also tried to pander to the community and the community didn’t always know what was best. This meant that new ideas were implemented and a few of them were either broken or just naff ideas in the first place!

For me, it’s now difficult to return to the game.

  3. This whole using cloud is so great sounds very like stuff that’s already being done

Drivatar in Cloud – Download a ghost to compete against, in just about every game for the last 5 years….

KI – WOOT! Auto balancing, because no other multipleyer game understands how to balance games ‘on-the-fly’…

So what exactly bar game progress storage and downloading of your friends progress in a single accessible area, does this cloud give you?

    • You do know that The cloud also sends data to the AI in Forza 5 from your friends driving abilities? The AI thats on the disc is actually all the data from the developers lap times and driving characteristics that the cloud has picked up on. Once you are online and connected with your friends the cloud sends their data to your xbox and automatically updates the AI within the game so theoretically you will be racing your friends while they are not even online. Now that to me sounds fantastic and most definitely has not been around for years.

  4. The killer instinct part, where they talked about automatic download of new tweaks. It’s a cool feature and has been done for years.

    • I’m really hoping he meant it in a different way, maybe it records players and automatically sees if there’s any balancing issues over all the players in the world and then they update it from there. If not then I imagine they just needed someone else for their video :p

  5. I hope everybody who’s picking up the Xbox One this Friday has a great time with it. I can’t justify £800 in two weeks on hardware so had to pick just the PS4 at this point, but hopefully I’ll be able to buy ‘One’ in the next 12 months…

    Once again, enjoy!

    • I hope you enjoy your PS4! :) I’ve just preferred some of the Xbox stuff and the way some of it looks but there’s not going to be a real difference. So I will be getting a PS4 after my Xbox but I may have to wait a bit longer than you as my PC is on the way out, so need a new on of them and why I’m at it I may as well make it a gaming PC.
But I’m excited to get both when I can.
Hopefully I won’t have to wait to long to play Infamous!!

I hope you enjoy the PS4 and the few problems that have been coming out with them is sorted by the 29th.
