Although it seemed as though Blockbuster would just be closing down less than a third of their stores – which is obviously not an ideal situation, but perhaps better than this – that number has now been revised, and an additional 192 stores will close, leaving no Blockbuster outlets operating.
This news comes via MCV, who have found out through managers, stores and various sources that Blockbuster will cease to trade, with all stores closing by December 20th.
There is no official word from Blockbuster just yet, nor anything from their administrators Moorfields Corporate Recovery.
A potential 2000 jobs could be lost across the 264 stores, so we at TSA wish everyone affected good luck in finding employment.

Blockbuster “Merry Christmas, employees”. :-\

Horrible, I’m always sad for people who lose their jobs – especially around Xmas, when the whole world reminds them that it is particularly sad losing their job this time of year.

A real shame but not surprising. :-(

Why they havn’t gone online only with digital distribution and postal sales is beyond me anyway. Failed as a business since the internet became something more than potato power, still a shame to see the jobs go though. :(

It’s a shame but the market has moved on in recent years so not surprising.
Hopefully Santa can deliver some jobs for the soon-to-be ex employees.

Whelp, there goes the only used games outlet in Daventry. Any enterprising tsaers out there? ;)
My sympathies to all those affected. Loosing your job at any time is hard. But more so at this time of year. Hope you all instantly find something better.

The few Blockbusters we had in out (rural) area have been closed down for a couple of years now, I just assumed the whole company had closed down.
