Rockstar has just confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be releasing on various mobile and tablet devices in December. There will be support for select iOS, Android, Kindle and Windows devices, including the options to use compatible controllers.
San Andreas mobile has been upgraded with improved character and vehicle models, better draw distance and has enriched colours. There is also a new checkpoint system, something I guess has been taken from GTA V. The blog post also states there will be a trio of control schemes when using the touch controls.
The exact release date and price will be revealed in the coming weeks.

TUAW on Twitter just retweeted that it’ll support controllers on iOS 7 too.

The old GTA games would be fantastic on Vita… Shame it’s just going to touch screen nonsense.

Yeah, calling it a missed opportunity feels like an understatement.
