It might be the day of the PS4 launch over here, but it just so happens to coincide with the latest American pastime to invade our shores – Black Friday. Yes, it’s today, and we’ve already seen a week stuffed with offers on all sorts of things. For gamers, it’s an opportunity to grab some of the latest games at cut prices.
Amazon’s Black Friday page has been running all week, and is set to carry on into the weekend. Make sure to filter the deals being shown to you, and you’ll see that later today we have Puppeteer at 2:15PM, Splinter Cell: Blacklist at 4:15PM, Tomb Raider Survival Edition at 7:15PM and Dishonored GOTY Edition at 8:15 PM.
These are joined by some hardware offers, with a Mario Kart 3DS XL bundle at 2:15PM, Xbox 360 4GB with a few family games at 5:15PM and another 3DS XL bundle, with Super Mario 3D Land this time, at 6:15PM.
What will the actual prices be? Well, we won’t exactly know until those times roll around, unfortunately. A cunning ploy to keep you visiting throughout the day.
The same can be said of Game’s Black Friday bonanza, which started off at 8AM with current gen versions of FIFA 14 for £27.99, and continued with F1 2013, which has now expired. Each deal is meant to run for an hour, but FIFA seems to be getting added extra time (get it?), so it’s maybe not too vital if you missed the supposed window.
This is going to carry on through to 8PM with Disney infinity now at £34.99, Final Fantasy IV coming along at 11AM, then two stand outs at lunchtime with Battlefield 4 at 12PM (which you’ll be able to updgrade or trade in for next gen) and Rayman Legends at 1PM. From 2PM onwards, it then breaks away from games a little, with the Lord of the Rings film trilogy and what looks like Call of Duty branded Turtle Beach headsets, before returning with The Elder Scrolls Anthology, Deadfall Adventure, Football Manager 2014 and closing off with Dishonored.
There are also a few other deals to be had, away from these timed offers, with Batman: Arkham Origins, GTA V, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 (presumably not as heavily discounted) and plenty more besides.
Those are the main ones, but Wednesday saw Steam’s Autumn Sale kick off, with their regular sale format returning, while Green Man Gaming are having a Black Friday sale over the weekend, with their offers changing every four hours. There are plenty of offers all over the internet and in stores too, game related and otherwise.
Has anything caught your eye, so far? Spotted any other offers out and about on the internet, and want to share them with us? It could even be something non-gaming, like a nice ceramic oven dish…

My PS4 has just arrived woohoo…but I have to wait until after work to play, BOOOOO :(
In my excitement and looking at photos people have posted/shared (sanmatinez) on facebook, I’m VERY tempter to treat myself to Battlefield 4. I guess it might work out cheaper to buy the reduced PS3 version then then £10 upgrade to PS4 if that can still be done (post pre-ordering)?
Stefan L
Yup. Copies of BF4 all come with that digital code to upgrade. Also, it’s part of Amazon and Game’s next-gen trade in schemes.

Cheers Tef…how does the physical trade-in work, how much do they give you against the PS4 version (I’d rather have a physical copy of BF4 is poss)?
Just noticed that in all my excitement I wrote tempter instead of tempted. Wally! :/ lol
Stefan L
I think they’re basically keeping it to a £10 upgrade price. With Amazon you post it in but for Game, you should be able to wander into the shops… you need to have bought it from Game, though, while Amazon don’t care.
See here for Amazon

Nice one, thanks mate ;)

I’m tempted by Prison Architect for £9.99 on Steam, but don’t know if I should wait until it’s 66 or 75% off. I wish there was a demo to see if I liked it, I don’t get why Devs don’t spend time on a demo when surely it would get them a few more sales if people liked it…

Very interested in getting Assassin’s Creed Black Flag on the PC due to the cheap price. VERY tempted! *restrains self*

We’ll have none of your kinky self-bondage around here! Keep it clean, Mike!

I’ve read some reviews and if you have an AMD GPU, it’s probably worth waiting a while for some optimisations and beta drivers from AMD, so that’s what I’ll be doing.
It’s meant to be gorgeous on nVidia GPUs though, have seen pretty much nothing but praise for it apart from the odd bug here and there.
