The Elder Scrolls Online Dated, New Trailer Highlights PvP Action

The Elder Scrolls Online will release for PC and Mac on the 4th of April 2014, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will follow soon after in June.

The new gameplay trailer above shows the PvP system, which allows hundreds of players to fight together or even against each other on their quest to claim the Ruby Throne. It looks extremely impressive.

Speaking on the official website, game director Matt Firor explained the reasons for the short delay of the console versions:

“Worldwide demand for The Elder Scrolls Online is extraordinarily high. This means we need to do a staggered rollout of the different versions of the game to spread out the initial service load and ensure an enjoyable, smooth gameplay experience. It is not only a game we are launching – it is a large online service as well, and our number one priority is to ensure a trouble-free, stable rollout for everyone.”

TESCO (that’s what we’re calling it) features a subscription payment model, which means that it will cost you £8.99 every month to play the game. That does mean they’ll be able to continually add content, prevent online issues and limit microtransactions. Hopefully.

  1. Unsure if I want to get into another MMO, they are great fun but the whole selling point (for me) with consoles is the pick up and play aspect of them. Guess its how it implements “raiding/dungeons” and stuff.

    /undecided.

  2. ElderScrolls Online is an oxymoron.

Full price for the game and £9 a month is just silly.

Unless it gets great reviews everywhere and recommendations from everyone, I am going to pass.

    • Aye me too. It’ll be a different matter if the game is free with a monthly subscription though.

  3. Awesome!! Want want want!!

  4. There best be a free trial period without the need to purchase the game first or no sale!

  5. Does seem a really stupid pricing system. If they are gonna charge £50 for the game AND a 9 quid sub then I reckon the game will fail on consoles

    • Final Fantasy XIV ARR sold pretty well on the PS3 if I recall correctly. The free PS4 upgrade promise might have helped, but the pricing is pretty standard in MMOs unless they are F2P.
