Nintendo has revealed the official UK launch line-up for its upcoming console, the 3DS. Rather surprisingly Dead or Alive is missing from the list, with Samurai Warriors: Chronicles popping up instead.
The full list is as follows:
- Pilotwings Resort
- Nintendogs + Cats: Golden Retriever & New Friends
- Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog & New Friends
- Nintendogs + Cats: Toy Poodle & New Friends
- Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
- The Sims 3
- PES 2011 3D – Pro Evolution Soccer
- LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
- Ridge Racer 3D
- Super Monkey Ball 3D
- Samurai Warriors: Chronicles
- Asphalt 3D
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D
- Rayman 3D
March will be an expensive months for Nintendo fans.

Why would I want a 3DS when the NGP is just a few (long) months away and for what, to play mainly Plinky Plonky games. No, I’ll leave the Ninty stuff to kids and wives/gfriends thanks.

And me.

Have to agree. I think the (near) portable PS3 experience is more my thing. Don’t blame anyone giving the 3DS a go but I do feel I would tire of the 3D quickly.

The problem with NOT buying the 3DS is that it means you don’t get to enjoy the great Nintendo franchises that we all love. I’m not interested in the 3DS right now. But there will be a time when a revision of said handheld will be released with a great new Zelda and Mario outing and NES kids like myself will be unable to resist…
redmik71
Strange thing for a gamer to say. Have you ever played any Nintendo classic? Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Starfox etc….
Why would I want a NGP when I can play a more powerful one on a big TV (ie PS3). Just playing the same games but not quite as good????
This isnt personal just thought it was a strange comment.
simplebob
Nice to see lots of new franchises in the line up
kivi95
Which new feanchise?
Armonster9000
Sarcasm?

There is not one new franchise on that list. Still won’t stop me from getting it though, theres too many good games to stick to just one console :3

I was hoping resident evil mercs would be on the launch list. I played it on Saturday and liked it. Pilotwings was good though so I’m def getting that.

lol
Dan Lee
Not fussed about Resi Mercs, but Street Fighter is on my list, as is Pilotwings.
TJ
Just can’t get excited about the 3DS, esp. with that dismall launch line-up.
kivi95
Same here, I really can’t see anything that intersest me about the 3DS,none of theas games and the only game is resident evil which is not a launch title. HARDWARE Is not that impressive when you see what the psp2 can do and iphone/ipod is getting better and better.
ARUMIR Sympozium
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
PES 2011 3D – Pro Evolution Soccer
Ridge Racer 3D
Pilot Wings (maybe)
Asphalt 3D (reviews nao!!)
Well thats pretty much it… I can’t stand the Tom Clancy games and the rest don’t appeal to me :/ Oh and I need to get a few DS game one of them being Bangai-O…. can’t wait!!!
adamguest1985
Not a single Mario game? Not even a rehash of an old one?
No Zelda? No Prof. Layton? Donkey Kong? Not even a Rayman game?
Nothing in that list says “Nintendo” to me except “Nintendogs” and that’s not appealing to anyone over about 6, is it?
Needs more recognisable brands & characters. I’m assuming though these are being held back until the summer season.
Very poor lineup in my opinion – That is unless they’re deliberately trying to distance themselves from their previous core demographic.
Dan Lee
I would class Street Fighter, Ridge Racer, PES, The Sims, Rayman, LEGO, and the Tom Clancy games as recognisable brands. Very much so.
adamguest1985
Recognisable brands they may be, but to me at least, they’re not very Nintendo.
Nintendo’s market for the last few years has very much been the casual and kids area, and although things like The Sims and LEGO may fall into those categories, they’re so often released on all formats, that they don’t entirely promote Nintendo brand awareness.
mrfodder
Rayman is on the list.
adamguest1985
I’m obviously blind.
Rocket_345
May i direct your attention to the last game on the list. Rayman 3D.
Crocadillian
You cant be serious, the idea of another 2D Mario game horrifies me. I think it’s a shame that Nintendo are too reliant on old franchises, and rarely bring out anything now. Especially with how good games such as Pikmin was.

Super Monkey Ball would be the only one for me but I don’t want it badly enough to spend £200 on a 3DS. Lego Star Wars would be a second but I’ll have that on the PS3 anyway. There’s no real system seller for me yet but I don’t remember many (if any consoles) having that when they were released either.
Actually just checked and the PS2 had Timeplsitters and SSX as launch games and the Xbox had Halo and Oddworld. Even the PSP had Lumines.
asparagushunter
My girlfriend’s dead set on getting one but it’s a no from me; there’s nothing that screams ‘I’ll be a great game’ from any of the launch line-up and very little of the overall line-up.
Delriach
The only games I’d want are SSFIV and Resident Evil. Even then, I don’t think that is enough for me. I can’t imagine playing SSFIV on such a machine in any sort of alarming way like I play it on consoles. It’s the buttons. I’m spoiled by having six on the front of a controller.

That’s that settled then. No launch day purchase though I see myself owning one at some point down the line.
