With their recent reboot now confirmed to be heading to PS4 and Xbox One as a “Definitive Edition” next year, Square Enix have today re-released 1996’s original Tomb Raider for iOS devices.
The latest adaptation of this classic action-adventure game features all the original levels and environments, as well as new touch-optimized controls, and support for certain game controlers, such as the MOGA Ace Power or the Logitech Powershell.
Interestingly, the product listing on iTunes is calling this release “Tomb Raider I” rather than simply Tomb Raider, or Tomb Raider Classic, which points squarely at Lara’s other adventures heading handheld fairly soon too.
Tomb Raider I is available right now for £0.69/$0.99 from iTunes.

I usually hate playing action games on touch screen, but this would probably control better than the PS1 Classic Tomb Raiders on the PSN.
I have no idea how I actually managed to control those back in the day, I tried Tomb Raider IV a few months ago and couldn’t get past the first lever! No matter how I lined Lara up with it and pressed the action button, she just wouldn’t pull it. :(

I know what you mean, they were ridiculously fiddly games! TR Anniversary was a lot more forgiving and it’s a great remake of the first game. Love a bit of Lara.

Yes, I love Anniversary very much.
A great remake. Shame it didn’t sell too well.

i never had a problem controlling the PS1 games, i can practically run non stop through the original now.
or at least i could last time i played it.

i’ll buy this (as with all other similar games that are released on ios) and end up hating it due to the control issues. But I’ve never learn. 69p for 10 minutes of nostalgia following by the delete button is still cheap enough.

And thus, Tim Cook places another order for a new Bugatti Veyron. A mint green one this time, I think.

You’re just not in the Christmas spirit, are you. :-P

so?
i had tomb raider on my mobile about a decade ago. ^_^
anyway, a Playstation Mobile version would be great.
i just realised, i could always get the PS1 version, assuming it works on Vita.
but a PSM version might be cheaper.
