Guerrilla Discuss Killzone Shadow Fall Updates

Guerrilla has given a status update on the top issues raised on the Killzone Player Voice feedback system.

There are a couple of tweaks under investigation including a batch of invisible walls that make grenades bounce away from their targets, as well as a much needed overhaul of the save system in the single player campaign.

Also under investigation is the return of a feature from previous Killzones, namely that you can kill outright an enemy who has been shot and awaiting a revival droid. I don’t agree with this personally but I do think there should be a time limit on how long you can roll about on the floor for.

The team are also looking at bringing back Operations mode from Killzone 3 and the classic Assassination mode from previous games.

“We admit it – we may have underestimated the popularity of Assassination Mode somewhat when we designed Killzone Shadow Fall,” said Guerrilla. “The good news is it’s certainly possible for us to re-introduce, and we’re looking at various designs right now.”

Work also continues on bringing clans back to the franchise and some new changes have been to the matchmaking algorithm based on data collected.

  1. More frequent saves in the single player would be welcomed by me. Really enjoying Shadow Fall but very hard to tell where it’s saved, meaning I’ve sometimes had to replay large sections. Great game in my opinion.

    • Yeah I’m with you in that one.
I remember quitting the game half way through a level on my first go and lost the majority of my progress by doing so when reloading :(

      • Cracking game. Love the style, gameplay and look of it. Online is great two. Great addition to the Killzone series. Absolutely loving it :-)

  2. I’m glad they’re being so proactive in adding wanted features to the game after launch

  3. I’ve been really enjoying the online play in killzone so any improvements welcome. The save thing sounds good as well, I’d like to try hard mode but thinking back to some of the levels has put me off.

  4. Good news about the sp game saves.

  5. It’s great how they’re listening. I’ve put more time than I thought I would have into Shadow Fall’s multiplayer, with just over 200 challenges completed.

  6. Is it just me being totally crap at the online or is the balance between regulars and newcomers real far apart?
I’ve joined a few COD multiplayers after a few months in the past and didn’t fare too badly. But I was completely destroyed this afternoon when I went online with this :)

  7. OK Vallon. Thanks for the help,I’ll give it a shot tomorrow and see if I can do better :)

    • No worries, I’m still learning myself but its a damn good game and worth persevering with imo :)

    • I started with the support class as you can get points reviving easily as opposed to shield kills. The guns are more long range too which can help keep you out if it. But it is each to their own. I think scout is definitely the hardest to get used to and unlock weapon upgrades.

  8. very pleased they are bringing back assassination, or might do at least.

  9. Looking forward to Cracking on with this after Blag Flag. I managed to miss the free multiplayer weekend!!

  10. Assassination mode should definitely return and along with it the chance to finish people off who are wounded awaiting revive droids. One of the most exciting moments I experienced whilst playing Killzone 3 was during an assassination mission. The target was wounded, but my team mates didn’t finish the job. I saw a medic running to revive him through my sniper scope from afar, just before he could bring him back. BOOOOM! I blew his bloody head off! I would also like to see the return of the more brutal melee moves, like eye gouging. The ones now seem meek in comparison. Also more cockney accents for the Helghast, American accents don’t sound sinister enough. That is all.
