I think Titanfall looks fantastic. I don’t even like online shooters, I always get frustrated at how quickly and easily I fall into that endless spawn-die cycle that just makes me want to throw the whole lot out of the nearest window. But Titanfall looks somehow different.
Maybe it’s the jet packs, the wallrunning or the general feeling that it’s all quite busy without being too dangerous all the time. Or maybe it’s the gargantuan mechs. It’s probably the mechs, isn’t it?
Anyway, they’re having a limited, closed, trial at the moment and it appears that a load of footage has leaked out from it, showing the game in all its glory.

That’s the third video, if you follow it through to the DailyMotion channel it’s on, you’ll find a couple more. It’s all looking like it’ll be quite a lot of fun, hopefully there will be a more accessible beta for the game before release later this year.

If they were after COD with jetpacks then they’ve nailed it. I don’t doubt there’s so much more but what an instant turn off for me. Oh well. It’ll probably sell by the truckload and will hopefully be a decent title to boot.

I’m glad it’s not just me. COD with jetpacks is a very apt description. The AI bots look like they offer plenty of easy target practice, especially on such a small map.
If it were coming out for PS4 then I wouldn’t be buying it. MS are welcome to their exclusive.

It also looks quite ‘cartoony’ to me, but then again I’ve got a crap connection at work and the video looks severely compressed.

I’ve just watched it direct on the DailyMotion on 720 resolution and it’s not you or your connection. The visuals look very much like a COD game skinned, save for the additional wall climbing and mechs. The way the screen moves looks exactly like COD.

Odd you should get the ‘skinned’ thing in as I don’t play COD, but when I do see someone on it, to me all the objects just look like cardboard cereal boxes with textures whacked over the top. Not sure if that’s the case with the next gen versions.

Think this really does look good, however feels quite empty, like its a struggle to find an enemy. Perhaps this is a good thing as I always get killed every 3 seconds on COD / Battlefield…

No its an Alpha, of course they will have a Beta but they choose which build is released to the closed public. They don’t just have a single version of the game, more like 5 or 6. Why did they choose to release an Alpha? with the resolution scale set too 25% its much smaller in size than a beta or a full version demo. With games clocking in at 40-50gb nowadays it was basically necessary.
