Just weeks after Sony unveiling PlayStation Now, and a while after the downfall of OnLive, UK retailer GAME has teased that they may move in to the game streaming market themselves, and that they’re ready to fully support and be involved in PS Now.
Speaking to MCV, GAME’s chief digital officer Ian Chambers said: “I’m not going to rule anything in or out right now” in regards to their plans.
“What I will say is that if you look back across the past 18 months, you’ll see that GAME has a history of innovating. Whether it’s our lock-in series, our award-winning app, our m-commerce site, our Get Gaming Quicker service or our new digital infrastructure, we’ve shown we understand what gaming communities want and that we are capable of delivering this for them.”
Despite the self-promotion, he makes a good point: GAME have really stepped up their, well, game since coming out of administration, recently saying their sales jumped massively over Christmas.
This does not mean that the retailer will go directly against PlayStation Now, as they view it as another opportunity: “We view it very much as an opportunity. Since the launch of subscriptions to services offered by Microsoft and Sony, GAME has been fundamental to their success”.

Could they release a tablet with the control system of a ds3

I doubt this will happen or work if it did. They need to improve on their prices for the normal games to start with. Still inflated than most websites.
Avenger
They have a ‘history’ of innovating ridiculously high prices sure. I don’t really see that they can do anything special in relation to PS Now aside from the usual digital-based sales.

I’m puzzled… Streaming via GAME? No need for a console?
ArrebatoTarugo
I am sure they can find a way of overcharge for PS Now and carry on with their policy of cheating spoilt children and uninformed parents.
ArrebatoTarugo
I meant spoiled children… I get overexcited with Game.
Eldur
GAME is still very expensive. I like all the softer things they’ve been doing since they flirted with financial ruin (the Newcastle store especially was excellent at lock-ins, launches etc), but I don’t think I would ever buy a full price game there.

So how could they get involved with Playstation Now? Just by advertising it in-store or could they actually host PS Now servers?
ABlokeCalledDaz
I’d rather just pay Sony for PSNow than have Game whack 205% on the cost.
ABlokeCalledDaz
I meant 25% but as it’s Game perhaps 205% is more accurate.
