This Spider-Man Game Trailer Is Actually Not That Amazing

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is releasing this year. That’s a movie, starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Naturally, it’s a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man and, of course, it will have a video game tie-in named – wait for it – The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It looks alright. There’s really nothing special, it’s another Spider-Man game which won’t nearly be as good as the proper Spider-Man 2 game, but then again I’m just assuming as I haven’t actually played it. Still, as a trailer for a game which is coming to next generation consoles, it isn’t very exciting or visually splendorous.

It’s developed by Beenox, who made the decent Shattered Dimensions and its follow-up, Edge of Time, as well as the first The Amazing Spider-Man game. Let’s hope they can get some of that dimensional magic back.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC and 3DS. We can also assume that we’ll see a Vita version in late 2015.

  1. I was pleasantly surprised by the first Amazing Spiderman game. The game camera was awful, and some of the controls were a little dodgy, but other than that I really enjoyed it, and to me it was the first Spiderman game in ages to come close to the Spiderman 2 game on the PS2. Hopefully this sequel will follow suit and improve on the issues found in the first game.

  2. I really hope that trailer is not next gen footage. Looks last gen to me.

  3. Hm, that looked decidedly like Kraven the hunter in that clip – Is he even in the film, or they just trying to expand gameplay in some way?

Additionally, i hope this comes out for PS3 too (which would in some way explain the lack of polish in the footage), as the first game was really really good.

    • It’s definitely Kraven, and he won’t be in the movie, but chances are this will copy what the first game did and act as an unofficial follow to the events that happen in the movie. Chances are we’ll see a lot more Spiderman villains turn up to expand the game character roster.
