Out This Week: Minecraft, Slender & Spider-Man

We’ve hit a bit of a dry patch this week, it appears. With some of the year’s biggest releases geared towards the end of May, for now, we’ll have to make do with not one, not two, but three late arrivals.

Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition | PS3 | Wednesday

In truth, Minecraft has been out on the PlayStation 3 for a little while now. Having started out as a small-time PC exclusive, the game has since gone viral in every aspect of the word.

From T-shirts and Creeper plush toys to expos and a mod archive, Minecraft is just about everywhere. Looking to put that exposure one step further, this week sees the retail, disc-based launched of Minecraft on PlayStation 3.

Slender: The Arrival | PS3, 360 | Wednesday

Another game that found its success on PC, Slender is finally making a belated visit to last generation home consoles.

The Arrival expands upon the original Slender experience with a variety of playable characters across a number of stages.

Your core objective remains the same, however, with players tasked to retrieve eight scattered pages. There are no fancy gimmicks here or show-piece gun fights – instead you’ll be forced to flee an increasingly intrusive spectre stalking you through each environment.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 | Xbox One | Friday

Rounding out our list of late arrivals is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. That’s odd, you’re probably thinking, didn’t that come out a fortnight ago. Well yes, in fact it did. However, for reasons unknown, the Xbox One version had been pushed back to this week.

If you haven’t already, go ahead and check out our review of the PlayStation 4 version.

Though good enough, it’s the sort of game that fails to leave a lasting impact, especially for those wanting to see new generation consoles at their meanest.

  1. It must be the retail version of The Amazing Spider-man 2 that was delayed for some reason, the digital version has been on the Xbox store since the 2nd of this month I opted for the PS4 version though.

  2. I bought Thief last week but got sucked back into Minecraft. Is there some sort of help-group for Minecraft? – i don’t mean a group that offers guidance on how to play it, i mean a group for those trying to quit it! :/

    • There used to be a support group however they can currently be found huddle in a small cave throwing out torchs hoping that the creepers don’t come and get them….
