Yesterday it was reported that Nintendo was considering releasing mini-games and other software on smart devices, despite last week Iwata saying that it wouldn’t happen. Now we’re back to square one where Nintendo are once again saying that minigames will not be coming to smartphones, with a statement released to Engadget.
“Nikkei’s article contains information previously stated by Mr Iwata during past press conferences, including statements which relate to Nintendo’s willingness to make use of smart devices to promote our products.
However during such past announcements Mr Iwata has also stated that Nintendo’s intention is not to make Nintendo software available on smart devices and as such, we can confirm that there are no plans to offer minigames on smartphone devices.”
So if we’re to take this statement as is Nintendo would be willing to use smart devices to promote Nintendo products, but aren’t going to release things such as minigames. Maybe Nintendo are thinking of releasing an app similar to the Xbox SmartGlass and Sony’s PlayStation app, through which they can advertise products like the Wii U to those who download it. This could be what will be told to investors, not Mario Kart on mobile.

I think Ninty should concentrate on Hand Held whilst ploughing their titles across to Playstation. Imagine that :-)
Or even just concentrate on games this gen and plough everything into 4 and Vita whilst still developing specifics for their consoles….
I think it would work!

Sheer insanity. Pokemon Red/Blue: iOS exclusive (timed of course) – 9.99.
The sheer amount of money they could make from that and subsequent classic Nintendo games is utterly mind boggling.

yeah, gotta keep all the minigames for the Wii U. o_O
