PlayStation Now Beta Participant Demos Killzone 3 Through The Service

Update: Video taken down due to copyright claim. It looked good though.

Original story:

Youtube user buddsbuddha has uploaded a video showing the PlayStation Now service in action through the beta program currently taking place in the USA. The video shows us the games that the testers have available to them during this phase, which mostly matches up with the list that leaked yesterday except for the addition of Dead Or Alive 5. During this video Killzone 3 is selected to show just how smooth the Now service is at the moment.

From game selection to starting there is about a 40 second wait while the system checks the authorisation and the internet connection, which requires at 5Mbps minimum. Once all these checks are done Killzone 3 is loaded and for the most part seems to run as if the disc was present, with minimal lag as far as I could tell.

Then again this beta is limited so the strain on the servers won’t be as much as when the system goes live, so that will be a much better time to judge the strength of Now.However, it does look promising and if the stream quality remains as steady as it does here then all should be well. There is only sound output during the second half of the video, but that was explained in the comments as a improperly connected HDMI cable.

  1. Ah the video has been removed SCE

  2. An NDA is a LEGALLY BINDING contract! Some people should remember that!

  3. Argh! Pulled whenever I get to see it!

  4. It did look responsive in fairness. The picture wasn’t too great on the video to be fair. I watched it earlier but didn’t have time to respond. I’m glad I watched it then.

  5. There’s a download link on the GAF if anyone still wants to look at it.

  6. Can’t wait for this.
